How much would a near-perfect GRE score help?
Thanks. So the GPA weighs like over 70% all along in admission huh? :) I don't quite catch you on "in a particular subject", do you mean an excellent record on specific course or a couple of published thesis? Fluffy- FluffyFriend

[Quantum mechanics] How about this book?
Gennaro Auletta's Quantum Mechanics, any of you folks read this book before? Is it okay for beginners? Also, can anyone please recommend me one or two textbooks on quantum physics? It's better be employed by well-renowned American universities/colleges. And the authors better be American...- FluffyFriend

How much would a near-perfect GRE score help?
If someone has a relatively poor undergraduate record (below 3.0 GPA), but at the same time posses a high GRE score (without sub), would he/she still have a chance being granted with financial assistance? What about the same situation regarding international students?- FluffyFriend

What career options are available for astronomers with a doctorate degree?
Just wondering. What would it be like if you obtained a doctorate in astronomy. What would be your option for the future? Remain in school as teaching staff? Find a position in a research institute? Get a job in an observatory? Or something else? Can anyone please tell me a little (or a lot)...- FluffyFriend

Graduate Is the Cosmological Constant the Same as Dark Energy?
Yes it does! Thanks Nabeshin! At least I know what "economical" means here. "If it's useful, get it back from the trashcan". Further discussion is encouraged!- FluffyFriend

Graduate Is the Cosmological Constant the Same as Dark Energy?
What does this paragraph mean? I read it somewhere that a relatively newer observation renewed the concept of "cosmological constant", and it was connected with "dark energy", again, can anyone provide detailed information on that? Wasn't "cosmological constant" proved erroneous long ago...- FluffyFriend

Graduate Info regarding energy density of empty space?
Hi, new guy here. I once saw a graph on the development of the energy density of the universe, with the X axis measuring time (I believe it was in billion years or so) while the Y axis meansuring the density. There were three lines in that graph, energy density of empty space, energy...- FluffyFriend
