How Does a Box's Speed Change When Sliding Down a Frictionless Ramp?
Homework Statement A frictionless ramp of mass 3m is initially at rest on a horizontal frictionless floor. A small box of mass m is placed at the top of the ramp and then released from rest. After the box is released, it slides down the ramp and onto the horizontal floor, where it is...- Footballer010

Man on a plank- Center of Mass pb.
Homework Statement A man is standing at one end of a plank of length L = 10 m. The man has mass Mman = 100 kg and the plank has mass Mplank = 40 kg and the plank is atop a frictionless sheet of ice. At the other end of the plank sits a large rock of mass Mrock = 200 kg. The center of mass of...- Footballer010

Solving Kinetic Friction PB: How Many Times Does Block Cross Rough Section?
ok thanks, I got 9, but how would I set up the problem? mgh=xukmgh? where x equals the number of times the block crosses the section that right?- Footballer010

Solving Kinetic Friction PB: How Many Times Does Block Cross Rough Section?
Homework Statement A block of mass m is initially held in place on the left side of a track at a distance h above the bottom of the track. The track is completely frictionless, with the exception of a rough horizontal section of track of length h which has a coefficient of kinetic friction μ...- Footballer010

How Do You Integrate 1/(x^(1/2) - x^(1/3))?
I just got it... 6\intu^{5}/(u^{2}(u-1))du. Then I simplified and used long division to get a long complicated answer, but its right. Thank you both!- Footballer010

How Do You Integrate 1/(x^(1/2) - x^(1/3))?
u=x^{1/6} so u^{6}=x du=((u^{6})^{-5/6})/6 dx So, du=(u^{-5})/6 dx Now what?- Footballer010

How Do You Integrate 1/(x^(1/2) - x^(1/3))?
I used integration by parts and got \frac{1}{u^{2}(u-1)}=\frac{-1}{u}-\frac{1}{u^{2}}+\frac{1}{u-1}. Is this right?- Footballer010

How Do You Integrate 1/(x^(1/2) - x^(1/3))?
Homework Statement \int\frac{dx}{x^{1/2}-x^{1/3}} Homework Equations None The Attempt at a Solution What I did was replace \int\frac{dx}{x^{1/2}-x^{1/3}} with \int\frac{dx}{u^{3}-u^{2}} if u=x^{1/6}. Just to simplify things. And I think that was pointless. Help me out?- Footballer010
