What kind of load are you planning on using
Flourescent light bulb, LEDs, etc.
Is a capacitor going to be capable of powering it?
Oh yes depending on the voltage and capacity ratings of the capacitor.
Is the load going to be able to handle the change in voltage as the...
I want to charge a capacitor to a certain voltage, keep it from overcharging then using that charge to power a load.
I do have basic electrical training and have actually made a capacitor charger using a flyback and self feedback oscillator made with resistors , a transistor, and microwave...
Thanks for stating your position.
I am trying to charge a capacitor through using a diode on one leg.Like this:
but with a solid state version like this:
In this video the capacitor voltage increased...what if the gentleman had allowed the charging to continue?
Hope this answers your...
Hi,
Thank you for replying. You say I cannot overcharge a capacitor as long as I pulse it with a suitable voltage.I am pulsing it with a dc voltage through a diode.I thought the charge would accumulate until it passes the voltage rating and possibly explode?
I am trying to pulse charge a...
Awesome man.
Thanks!
BTW could I just DC pulse a capacitor say though a diode then put a safety device to prevent it from going past its stated voltage? What would i use to do that, varistor, gdt etc? How could I pulsed the DC with a MOSFET etc to cap?

Hello All,
I am thinking about pulsing the power from individual 9-12 volt Batteries @ the different frequencies of 1 Hz, 50 hz, 500hz 5 khz 30 khz and 50khz .
All I want to do is to create a pulse DC charge from a 9 volt or 12 volt battery.Car or Motor Cycle batteries are my targets...
Thanks for replying,
Not clear why you said not a project that will fit in my garage. Please clarify.
Do you mean the massive amps and potential danger?
Hello All,
I would like a schematic that would help me to create a simple oscillator that can drive an aircore coil or other components at 3 to 7 MHz and 219 MHz approximately.Any help is appreciated.

Hello All,
Could you please explain what would happen if I charge a capacitor with say 30 khz DC 500 volts with a 10000 uf cap. Would a gas discharge tube, varistor, triac of 300 volts connected across the capacitor help to preventing it from exploding?

Hello All,
I am trying to build what is essentially an electrochemical cell which I will use to filter waste water and try to recover gold silver and copper among other metals on a High Surface Area Cathode like Carbon.I want this electronic filter to be selective about the metals recovered...
