Why do electrons collide with ions in a conductor
Homework Statement I am confused if whether the collisions in a conductor is because as the electric field pushes electrons through the material, they literally bump into the orbitals of the atoms because these atoms get in the way of the electron flow, or whether these collisions happen...- Genji Shimada

Engineering Why Is the Time Constant in an LR Circuit L/R Instead of L×R?
Homework Statement Hi. I started studying LR circuits and the first thing that made me do searches in textbooks of mine and in the internet was the time constant which is surprisingly not L times R, but L/R which would mean the time needed to store and release energy is being prolonged with...- Genji Shimada

If atoms are neutral, how do they share electrons
So basicaly an atom with 9 protons has attracted 9 electrons which arrange around the nucleus (in orbitals) in such a way that they are as far from one another as possible and at the same time they surround the nucleus in such a way that they ballance its positive charge. When another atom...- Genji Shimada

If atoms are neutral, how do they share electrons
Homework Statement If atoms are neutral, then how do they share electrons with each other? In the ionic bonding the metal requires very little energy do release its valence electrons, but once they are free, I don't see a force of attraction from the non metal nucleus because it is balanced...- Genji Shimada

Engineering Thevenin's equivalent circuit for capacitor
Yes, I know a bit about Thevenin equivalent circuits. But then again, if you are not allowed to tell me the answer directly, can you at least tell me what is that "Fundamental property" I should go look for?- Genji Shimada

Engineering Thevenin's equivalent circuit for capacitor
Okay then tell me the answer. This is not a homework I am not a student, I am just a man in his 20s who looks to learn electronics. So I need your help, tell me why is the time constant smaller with a voltage divider?- Genji Shimada

Engineering Thevenin's equivalent circuit for capacitor
" just think what happens if you connect the capacitor afterwards after putting the switch on first. I think you will get the answer of your question. " Hmm all I can think of is that as you said if the voltage divider already existed and I connect the capacitor second, the first moment that I...- Genji Shimada

Engineering Thevenin's equivalent circuit for capacitor
[Mod Note: Thread moved from technical forum hence no homework template.] Okay so the image i uploaded only because of the cirscuit never mind the text to it. I don't understand things mathematicaly verry well. I like to have a good physical grasp on what is going on with the circuit. That...- Genji Shimada

Maximizing Frequency Detection in Arduino Projects
Hello, I am doing an arduino project and I need a bit of help with a code. What I am doing is I am setting an Infrared led to pulsate at different frequencies and I use IR phototransistor to capture that light. Then the phototransistor sends the data back to the arduino and here I need to add...- Genji Shimada

Understanding VCEsat: The Impact of Resistance on BJT at Different Currents
Yep, you're right. I don't know why I struggled about it so much. Since the silicon itself has some resistance you can never get away with 0V drop across CE. And so you got around 0,2V Vcesat. If the ratio between Ic and Ib is still 1/10, if the currents are bigger, duo to Ohms law Vcesat will...- Genji Shimada
