Comparing Uncertainty of Two Results in Conclusion

PatrickPowers, I was looking for something similar to you answer 'the 72 probably has a higher power transfer ratio but considerable doubt remains'. I also found on the internet something like 'the absolute uncertainty is less than the difference in uncertainty hence it cannot be fully...

Comparing Uncertainty of Two Results in Conclusion

I am trying to figure out how to refer to two overlapping uncertainty results. I have to write a conclusion and I find it difficult to explain. Even now it may seem unclear as to what I am referring to so I will provide an example. This is directly from my conclusion. 'The 72 rated golf ball...

Unusual Golf Ball Behavior: Investigating an Unexplained Force vs Distance Graph

http://cdn.thesandtrap.com/4/4a/4a975260_Untitled5.jpeg This graph is easier to interpret, however considering it is part of a research project, I thought it would be better to include calculations. Is there any other way I could calculate something out of any of the following vaiables: Launch...

Unusual Golf Ball Behavior: Investigating an Unexplained Force vs Distance Graph

Those ratings are based on USGA golf ball compression ratings. All golf balls are in this manner, and the higher the number, the less compressible the ball. I myself conducted an experiment to find the COR of the golf balls, except that was for a golf ball dropping on concrete. The smooth golf...

Unusual Golf Ball Behavior: Investigating an Unexplained Force vs Distance Graph

I believe the cause for that is an error in the simulation program. For each golf ball I did not iindepenantly input the drag coefficient for the golf balls. I believe the program assumed the smooth golf ball had the same drag coefficient as a dimpled golf ball.

Unusual Golf Ball Behavior: Investigating an Unexplained Force vs Distance Graph

I understand why you think you are wasting your time. I just wanted to communicate my ideas across and did not bother to write with care. With collecting data I actually meant experiement. I am doing an extended essay so it is not that simple. The equation I got off the internet was used as it...

Unusual Golf Ball Behavior: Investigating an Unexplained Force vs Distance Graph

Forgot to include that data. The backspin, ball speed, clubhead speed etc was calculated by a simulation program (Golf Achiever), which involves a golfer hitting golf balls on a mat with lasers. The simulation program was programmed there was no wind affecting the flight path of the golf balls...

Unusual Golf Ball Behavior: Investigating an Unexplained Force vs Distance Graph

I am almost done in my research on golf balls, however I found something unusual which I can't seem to find an explanation for. After collecting data on a golf swing (golf ball speed, club head speed, backspin, distance etc.) I created a few graphs. Once of them was a force vs distance graph...

Calculating Drag Coefficient of a Golf Ball Without Wind Tunnel

would you advise me do steer away from such a topic? Is the analysis of the club-ball impact reasonable to research for an IB student?

Calculating Drag Coefficient of a Golf Ball Without Wind Tunnel

You got any computer program which does this?

Calculating Drag Coefficient of a Golf Ball Without Wind Tunnel

I was considering doing as you suggested. I actually wished to compare the data from different type of golf balls, hence I would get different curves as the dimples on the golf balls would be different. In fact I found another way to analyse the physics of this. I will look at the club-ball...

Calculating Drag Coefficient of a Golf Ball Without Wind Tunnel

Thanks for your reply. So I have been researching this topic for hours on end and realized I had a problem. Firsty you mention fluid flow equations. For example does this include the following: Fres=-C1vr+C2v2r2 Which can be used to find the terminal velocity in a fluid. Secondly, what is a...

Calculating Drag Coefficient of a Golf Ball Without Wind Tunnel

are there any other methods that I can use to obtain a similar graph for analysis. I would like to analyze the air flow around a golf ball.
