Resonant frequency calculations for 'solid object' systems
Hi, thanks for stopping by :) This is for a big assignment (Yr 12). I asked my physics teacher this, but she couldn't give me a definite answer, and neither could my music teacher who previously studied physics, and then he messaged an engineer he knew, who hasn't replied yet... ~ Given...- HalcyonicBlues

Light - reflection in two facing mirrors
Hi, thanks for stopping by.I'm studying for an exam tomorrow, I would really appreciate even just a push in the right direction! Homework Statement A plane mirror and a convex mirror are placed facing each other and 50 cm apart. A candle is placed on the principal axis 20 cm from the plane...- HalcyonicBlues

Undergrad Combining thermal conductivity
If thermal resistance is additive, then how can the thermal conductivity of two (or more) materials be combined? Can it? Eg. a wall filled with straw and air, a hollow brick, a mixture of polystyrene and fibreglass wool (just some random ideas off the top of my head).- HalcyonicBlues

Understanding accelerometer data
Does that mean that figures taken off the graph can't be stated as merely vertical acceleration (as one component of the resultant vector quantity)? So is the acceleration measured...centripetal...?- HalcyonicBlues

Understanding accelerometer data
I'm having trouble understanding what accelerometers really measure. In observing a simple gravity pendulum, the accelerometer recorded this data (jpeg image attached) which is acceleration in the vertical direction (supposedly). Now I've been told all sorts of things, like that the...- HalcyonicBlues

The physical pendulum - mass calculations
When analysing the forces/energy transfers acting on a physical pendulum (albeit with a larger mass on the end, such as a grandfather clock...with a thick rod?) is it absolutely necessary to know the mass of the 'arm' (separate from the bob, as such)? Also, can the mass of the arm be calculated...- HalcyonicBlues
