Torsional Rigidity vs Hardness - Steel Shafts
First of all hardening is a surface property, it doesn't have direct relationship with torsional rigidity. i say it direct because when you harden it, during the process the whole component goes through it and that might affect torsional rigidity, but i assume it independent of hardening...- Harshit puri

Automotive What Changes When You Reduce Car Wheel Size by 4%?
no you won't have more torque .. torque is a function of gear ratios at wheel torque = engine torque*gear ratios*differential ratio So when you are considering change in tyre dimensions assume it constant. so for changing wheel selection following things will occur. in this case your tractive...- Harshit puri

Kinematics Book Question -- Rowing a boat across a river at an angle
First of all try to understand directions i denotes in the right direction x-axis and j to positive y(upwards) hece all ur movements are in y are downwards hence negative j. now it makes θ angle with horizontal so cos θ is positive i direction and Sinθ of that vector point downwards it becomes...- Harshit puri

Test Tracks: Banked Parabolic Curve Benefits
i want a mathematical reason why a parabola profile is used in super elevation of testtrack like bloss curve or clothoid geometry or whichever curve it takes by profile i mean u have a side view of path the angle changes with change in distance, whichever equation we choose what is the reason...- Harshit puri

Test Tracks: Banked Parabolic Curve Benefits
thank you mike. yeah i might be wrong ! and always get confuse between two but can you refer some book or reading material which will give m a more broad idea about same and i am very specifically talking about banking.. it would be great if u provide any study material for designing track if u...- Harshit puri

Should I learn Pro/Engineer or SolidWorks?
i had training on PROE and CATIA but not on SW still i prefer to work on SW.. PROE has excellent part module and rendering but its very complex to use ( i never used it again) . CATIA is comparatively friendly but you have to know what each icon depicts if you want to work faster hence i prefer...- Harshit puri

Test Tracks: Banked Parabolic Curve Benefits
Thanx Mike..i agree with ur point as varying angle with the curve will help to counteract the centrifugal forces which vary with changing speeds.. but why specifically parabola why not ellipse or hyperbola, what will be in case of ellipse or hyperbola.. i need some geometrical reason to support...- Harshit puri
