Graduate Are Photons Actually Infinitely Small Particles?
In photoelectric effect, does the cannonball(s) splatter energy on the nucleus, causing the electrons to lose some of their hold on the atom? Doesn't a direct hit force the electron to move towards a more electronegative atom? Help me here. My memory does't serve me. The photon originates from...- hbjon

Japan Earthquake: Nuclear Plants at Fukushima Daiichi
There could be pockets of fuel allowing the geometry to be favorable for criticallity. I'm thinking smaller masses of transuranic stuff can be very unpredictible. Has there ever been experiments of small quantities of transuranic isotopes mixing under the forces of radiolysis? I struggle with...- hbjon

Chris Busby is a fruitcake? Why? Because he says the stuff that was in those building was really really bad stuff, and it can kill ya? Because he uses the "bedtime story" approach at presenting this dreadfull information? Or is his science all wrong? He seems to think he knows what he is talking...- hbjon

Japan Earthquake: Nuclear Plants at Fukushima Daiichi
You criticize the only two people (almost) that the establishment has allowed to put a message out there warning people of some of the dangers we may face. I like both of them because they can do it with a calm and controlled demeanor. Myself, when I try to tell people the physics of Fukushima...- hbjon

Japan Earthquake: Nuclear Plants at Fukushima Daiichi
It has been noted that half of a big number is still a big number. Then why doesn't it follow that half of half of a big number is still a big number? I thought we were talking about half of every fission that occurred? Or was it half of half of every fission that occurred. My math may be off. I...- hbjon

Japan Earthquake: Nuclear Plants at Fukushima Daiichi
So in the case of a large mass of molten corium being constantly sprayed with water, does the kr85 get liberated into the air, or does a large portion stay in the water? The gas is hot, so that would make it airborne, right? I imagine that it gets caught in the currents of other hot gasses...- hbjon

Japan Earthquake: Nuclear Plants at Fukushima Daiichi
Question. If the gas Krypton is formed, how far would it travel from it's place of origin? Would it mix and settle into the ocean? Would it travel with the wind for long distances and settle in crack in the earth? Is it true that Krypton will not normally react chemically with other substances...- hbjon

News Who influenced Breivik to commit his heinous act?
What exactly do you disagree with? Obviously you feel offended by these statements? At the very least, you feel uncomfortable by the information. Perhaps you have information that is different or maybe you can correct the statement by a fact of your own? If your the wisest person on the...- hbjon

News Should Obama invoke the 14th Amendment and bypass Congress?
Debt ceiling raised= Your dollar worth less. Debt ceiling lowered= Your dollar worth more. If your holdings are in the Euro or other currencies, higher debt limit= higher Euro value because your currency is not being dilluted. All the gold has been purchased already with "good money", when...- hbjon

News Should Obama invoke the 14th Amendment and bypass Congress?
There was a lot of talk on closing the overseas tax-shelters, but that talk seems to have quieted down somewhat. Pretax money funneled overseas is a crime against the taxpayers. Pretax money converted into commodities and shipped overseas is a crime against the taxpayers. Remember the plane...- hbjon

News Should Obama invoke the 14th Amendment and bypass Congress?
There is one program that needs to continue as is. And that is Social Security. Workers have sacrificed part of their pay for most of their entire working lives. That piece of pie was invested in their own retirement. And the agreement was that at age 65, they would be able to receive that...- hbjon

Who on the right does not want to hurt the elderly etc.? Easy way to tell. Find out if they would vote to raise the ss eligibility age. In my mind, that would be a qualifier. Ivan is a wise old owl, You tell them Ivan.- hbjon
