Reduction of benzophenone to diphenylethanol
Are you sure it is diphenyl'ethanol', not diphenyl'methanol' ? NaBH4 is used to reduce carbonyl group to alcohol, or in other words, it donates a hydride. The hydride bonds with the carbon, and oxygen gets a negative charge. Now, a new complex is formed. You can see the reaction here...- hermy

Finding height given velocities
When the daredevil reaches the top, his velocity is in the vertical direction is zero... This means he can't go further up. Gravity will pull him down. Now, I suppose you can find the maximum height he reaches.- hermy

What is the R/a Ratio for a 1% Deviation in Electric Field at Point x=a/2?
What the question means is that E = 0.99 n / \epsilon or it could also be E = 1.01 n / \epsilon. E is given in terms of a and R, so finding the ratio should not be a problem. Are you sure, though, that it is " 1 - a/2 " in the numerator? In this case, finding the ratio would be impossible.- hermy

Java Java DK is not getting installed
Hello! I installed java developers' kit today, but in c:\program files by mistake. I wanted to change it to c:\, so initially I just cut-pasted it. It didn't work, so I uninstalled it (add or remove programs in control panel). However, when I tried to delete the "java" folder in c:\, it said...- hermy

Does the number of turns on a loop affect the current or magnetic field?
If a fixed current I is passed through the coil, the magnetic field would be \munI. But due to self inductance, the current in the coil changes. As you would already know, self inductance depends on the no. of turns in the coil.- hermy

To find work done by time-varying magnetic field
Homework Statement Magnetic field in the cylindrical region with its axis passing through O varies at a constant rate x. A triangular imaginary loop ABC, with AB = BC, is lying in this region as shown in figure. The work done to move unit positive charge from A to B along side AB is: (a)...- hermy

Interference pattern formed by an air wedge.
We are viewing the whole experiment from the top. So we consider the rays coming from the top surface of the 1st plate. One ray gets reflected from air (so no phase change) and the other travels through the glass, gets reflected from the 2nd plate (i.e a phase change of 180 = path change of...- hermy
