    Linear Programming Dealing with Defects?

Yes, I am just clarifying. Now what would i do if the demand for lightbulb X increases by 5%? How would i incorporate that into my linear programming model? Would that mean that I he wants to buy 5% more type X lightbulbs of what he's bought in the previous answers (10,000)?

    Linear Programming Involving Indices

I see what what you're getting at... so 60x would then be rationalized again to be in the 0 to 100 range (to be an index)? I Like Pi

    Linear Programming Involving Indices

So z doesn't matter? I am still having a hard time understanding the logic behind that equation... what does it mean when the index is multiplied by the dollar value? Wouldn't the units of z be in dollars? I Like Pi

    Linear Programming Involving Indices

I had this initially, but I don't see how it makes sense... shouldn't your z be in the 0-100 range? And what unit do you get when you multiply the index by the budget? I Like Pi

    Linear Programming Involving Indices

Okay, so Cmax (or z) is the index... I still don't understand...so for every dollar spent, the index for internet is 60 and so on. What if i did this: Cmax = (60x+90y)/30 000? That's all I can figure out... I Like Pi

    Linear Programming Dealing with Defects?

That's exactly what I was thinking... So, in this case, because we are dealing with just cost and not a set amount needing to be sold, the defective rate doesn't apply?

    Linear Programming Involving Indices

That is the part I am unsure of... I don't know what the measure of customer contact for $1 would be... I was thinking of relating the 0-100 to the price constraints?

    Linear Programming Involving Indices

Homework Statement A marketing team is given a budget of 30,000 to advertise a new show. It wants to promote this show using two methods, internet and posters. The executives have decided that the overall budget used on the internet can't be greater than double the budget used on posters...

    Linear Programming Dealing with Defects?

That is exactly how the question is written. However, there is a subquestion saying that if the demand for lightbulb X rises by 5% but total demand does not, how much type X lightbulbs and type Y lightbulbs should be ordered to minimize cost. What are the changes to the minimum solution...

    Linear Programming Dealing with Defects?

Homework Statement The problem goes like this: A man is selling two types of lightbulbs. Lightbulb X costs $1.70, but 9% are defective, and so, cannot be sold. Lightbulb Y costs $0.90, but 12% are defective. The man wants to purchase at least 10 000 lightbulbs of each type, but he wants at...

Quick Subspace Question: Understanding A = [x+1,0] as a Potential Subspace

Oh yeah! So you can rearrange it anyway so that you get the correct form? I thought that the initial variable had to be represented by only variables (if that makes sense)...

Quick Subspace Question: Understanding A = [x+1,0] as a Potential Subspace

Well I know the three conditions. However, what I'm not getting is that you should have your u+v in the form [x+1,0], where x is made up of x1 + x2, or am I getting the definition wrong? In this case i have (x1 + x2 + 1)...

Quick Subspace Question: Understanding A = [x+1,0] as a Potential Subspace

Homework Statement Hey, I'm trying to figure out whether A = [x+1,0] is a subspace... I know it's probably simple but what I'm confused is that...Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution u+v must be an element of A. let u = [x1+1,0] and v=[x2+1,0]. Adding them together gives you...

Prove if set A is a subspace of R4

Haha, thanks so much! It's funny how when you do something complicated, you become oblivious to the obvious!
