Not everybody who gets a PhD in pure science or mathematics has an easy time being able to DO something with it. I suggest following your heart, especially if you are dedicated, but just make sure you know what you're getting in to!
Thank you for your response.
I'll know for sure soon (emailed graduate admissions advisor for computer science department who I recently spoke with), but I think they would choose PhD candidates or atleast those wanting to do research to award the TA-ships to. I don't want to do research, just...
Maybe look into Material Science. They don't work on just physics principles, but what they build/test/make/research is very closely related to them, kind of like between a physicist and an engineer from what I understand.
I think schools generally only want to hire students as TA's who will be doing research/PhD. Are you doing that, or is that not the case with your school?
Hello everyone!
Thank you for your responses.
I attended the career fair, and had some nibbles and interviews that didn't pan out.
I'm getting a divorce.
I finished up my first year of teaching, and I have the following options:

Hello Physics Forums Community,
I have just applied online for a post-bachelor's research assistant position at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Does anyone work there/have experience with them?
I'm wondering what my next step should be.
Are they going to contact me? Should I contact them...
Agree!
I recently read A Universe in Zero Words, a book about the history and influence of important equations (if you want some examples of crazy mathematicians, read the chapter about the types of infinities-the outcome for a couple of those mathematicians, i.e. Godel, was not so great) and...
Hello all!
I recently read The Universe in Zero Words, a book about the history and influence of important equations. In it, it said that Newton's Laws have made possible the launching of spacecraft s and the construction of tall buildings.
With the spacecraft s, I might guess that he was...
