Integration of V(t) using faraday's law
Ok the question is with a U-shaped conductor and a bar that slides across. There is a battery and a switch, the switch is open for a long time then closed at t=0. I am supposed to find the velocity as a function of time. I am mostly having trouble with the integration, i know the answer but i...- ilovephysics

Understanding Nichrome Resistivity: Exploring Resistance in a Physics Lab
we used a multimeter and a set of calipers to measure length...so we would put the red at our 0 and 10cm away we put our black and read the resistance, and then we would go 10cm further and take the reading of that brewnog: arent we measuring the resistance of the metal nichrome for the given...- ilovephysics

Understanding Nichrome Resistivity: Exploring Resistance in a Physics Lab
umm i don't know we were not told anything about wire measurement..we did however calculate the resistivity, but its in my lab book which we are not allowed to take out of the lab.. the slope of my resistance vs length graph was 0.007 ohm/cm i think but i don't remember the cross sectional area...- ilovephysics

Understanding Nichrome Resistivity: Exploring Resistance in a Physics Lab
im doing a lab in physics where we measure the resistance of nichrome at different length intervals, when we plot the points and draw a line of best fit the line does NOT go through the origin, we are supposed to explain why but i have no idea why that is. can anyone help? thanks- ilovephysics

Solving Wave Motion Problems: Find Amplitude & Velocity
so which would be easier to change, amplitude of frequency? we both need to change them by a factor of 10 for the 2nd question I am just not sure how to get the amplitude- ilovephysics

Solving Wave Motion Problems: Find Amplitude & Velocity
first i have a quick question, for average power of a transverse harmonic wave the equation has the quantities tension, frequency and amplitude. the question asks me to find how much i need to change each quantity to increase the power by a factor of 100, i understand all that but then it asks...- ilovephysics

Entropy and damping osscilations
yes it is a monoatomic ideal gas, when we integrade dS we get mCvln(t2/t1) don't we? i am unsure where to go from there because we do not know the mass for question 2, we are not given the time it takes to complete each cycle, we are given mass, spring const, initial A, A after 4 cycles, and...- ilovephysics

Entropy and damping osscilations
i just have 2 questions i want to clear up so i can understand the concepts more, thanks 1) if you are calculation entropy change from path a to b and the path is isobaric (cont. pressure) how do you do it? the formula for entropy change is dQ/T, but i am unsure about what T to use, also i...- ilovephysics

How Do You Solve These Simple Harmonic Motion Problems?
1. three 10,000kg ore cars are held at rest on a 30degree incline on a mine railway using a cable that is parrallel to the incline. The cable is observed to strech 15cm just before the coupling between to lower two cards creaks, detaching the lowest car. Assuming the cable obeys Hook's Law...- ilovephysics

Solving Isothermal Expansion of an Ideal Monatomic Gas
k for part a i used p1, v1, v2, and p1, to find the slope which is rise/run and the slope is -1, i then plugged this into y=mx+b substituting p1 as y and v1 as x, and found b to be 3, so the equation i got is P(V) = -V + 3, which i don't know if its right or not..part b i have no idea how to do...- ilovephysics

Solving Isothermal Expansion of an Ideal Monatomic Gas
ok i really don't understand this question, especially about finding the functions for the recompressed isothermal and about the recompression stuff, I am just stuck An ideal monatomic gas is expanded from initial volume V1 = 1 litre, P1 = 2atm, and T1 = 300K to a volume V2 = 2 litres, and P2...- ilovephysics
