Weird ASME rounding rule regarding fractional decimals.
I'm taking an engineering graphics class and I recently learned this rule which states: "When the digit next beyond the last place to be retained is 5, and there are no digits beyond this 5, or only zeros, increase by 1 the digit in the last place retained if it is odd, leave the digit...- Jae

Why Gauss's law works when charge enclosed is not uniform?
If Gauss's law calculates the net electric flux. I don't understand how it's possible that calculating the electric field if the surface does not have a uniform field. I made a typo. I mean to say the x-direction from the middle of the slab. Sorry. Thank you for helping.- Jae

Why Gauss's law works when charge enclosed is not uniform?
This problem has charge that is not uniform in the inside, but it is still possible to find the electric field as a function of distance outside the slab using Gauss's law. How is this possible if the electric field is not uniform in the slab and plane? Wouldn't the electric field from the...- Jae

Undergrad Why doesn't Gaus's law count for charges outside the area?
In Gaus's law when the integral is set up, we don't account for the charge outside the closed area. Why is this? How does this law work when the charges outside are not accounted for and only the charges enclosed is in the equation? I need an explanation why Gaus's law still works for...- Jae

Mounting a small ultrasonic sensor to a continuous rotation servo
I'm an Arduino electronics hobbyist I'm not a professional electrical engineer. How would I mount a small ultrasonic sensor on a continuous rotation servo, without tangling the wires? How would I fix this problem easily and what's the most common way to mount electronics in a rotating object...- Jae

Finding an angle of trajectory from a tangential launch.
Homework Statement Homework Equations 1/2mv^2, mgh, and basic kinematics equations The Attempt at a Solution I set the height = 0 at moment before the launch. To get the velocity, I used: energy before the ball starts accelerating (PE) = energy right before the ball leaves the ark (KE)...- Jae

Solve F=ma Zip Line Problem: Angles & Sag
So the 75 * 9.81 = 735.75N divided by 2 is 367.875N. The only way I can think to find an angle here is by doing arctan (736/368), but that's the angle of the forces. How would I find the negligible angle that would allow me to find x?- Jae

Solve F=ma Zip Line Problem: Angles & Sag
I tried drawing the free body diagram, but I don't see any way I can get theta without a spring constant. How can this be done without the spring constant? Thank you for your time.- Jae

Solve F=ma Zip Line Problem: Angles & Sag
Question Info: A fun way to cross a chasm is to use a so-called Zip Line as shown in the figure. Assume that the width of the chasm you are crossing is, 21m . The rope must sag sufficiently so it won't break. Assume the rope can provide a tension force of up to 26kNbefore breaking, and use a...- Jae
