Need suggestions for class project (poli. sci)
How do you Fourier transform data? jhe threw out some really good ideas. I'd go with those kinds of things: comparing two sets of data and finding very simple, linear relationships. I'm almost positive that's exactly what the professor is looking for.- JierenChen

What Factors Drive Genius and Creativity in Unknown Discoveries?
I think you're mixing two different things up here. A genius is not necessarily an innovator. Geniuses merely have an innate supernormal cognitive ability. Innovators have the ideas. And you're right: ideas don't form out of vacuum and they certainly aren't innate.- JierenChen

Does Randomness Exist? Evolution & Implicate Order
"Randomness" is a term that only has meaning when you provide a context. It basically means a lack of information. For example, if we know the state of every molecule in the universe at every point in time since the Big Bang, well those genetic mutations would not be random. But we don't know...- JierenChen

Why sell capital at a price higher than what it costs?
The easy answer to francisco's question is because they can. Why would you not want to sell your product for more when you can? Also, just a silly rant but I really hate the concept of production as value-added. It's such a macroeconomic (blaaarrgh) idea that muddles complex economic, social...- JierenChen

Graduate Binomial distribution - killing cells with x-rays
That would be interesting. And you look at P(X1>=2, X2>=2, X3...)? A very simple and elegant model but I have a feeling it's been superceded. I would look at graphs, random fields, anything with that sort of mapped network type of thingie. Haven't really looked at that kind of stuff in a while...- JierenChen

Semantic completeness (in linguistics)
Yeah, that's the site. I presume interpretation means changing a sentence into a meaningful concept. But what makes a sentence interpretable? That it is syntatically and semantically complete, right? Seems like a tautology to me.- JierenChen

Semantic completeness (in linguistics)
Well I've been trying to look through a course in Psycholinguistics on MIT OCW and I got to a section about constituenthood, which requires a sequence of words to have syntactical and semantic completeness. I'm pretty sure it just means that the sequence makes sense, both in terms of meaning and...- JierenChen
