What is the Change in Kinetic Energy of a Crate Being Pulled at an Angle?

Homework Statement A.What is the change in kinetic energy of the crate? Answer in units of J. B.What is the speed of the crate after it is pulled 5.79 m? Answer in units of m/s Magnitude of work done by gravity= 200.786 Work done by applied force= 822.18 mass=8.91kg force pulling on box= 142N...

Calculating Mass of Cannon Ball with Given Velocity Using Work-Energy Theorem

We have covered the theorem in class, but I don't see how that would apply. Would the change in energy be broken down into EF-E0 which would then be broken down into KE-K0? I ended up solving the question using the v^2 equation in kinematics and F=ma. Does that tie into it all?

Calculating Mass of Cannon Ball with Given Velocity Using Work-Energy Theorem

Homework Statement You are in charge of a cannon that exerts a force 11200 N on a cannon ball while the ball is in the barrel of the cannon. The length of the cannon barrel is 2.18 m and the cannon is aimed at a 37.9 ◦ angle from the ground. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s 2 . If you...

What is the change in kinetic energy of the crate pulled up a rough incline?

Thanks, that answer was correct. One last question. I am looking for the change in kinetic energy. I tried 822.18J- 200.786J= 621.394J with the equation Change in kinetic energy= work by gravity+ work by applied force.

What is the change in kinetic energy of the crate pulled up a rough incline?

Plugging in I get h= 2.299m mgh=8.91*9.8*2.299= 200.786 Does this mean the work done by gravity is 200.786?

What is the change in kinetic energy of the crate pulled up a rough incline?

    So cos(23.4)=x/5.79. 5.79cos(23.4)=x. x=5.314 mgh= 8.91*9.8*5.314= 463.99 Does this mean the work done by gravity is 463.99?

What is the change in kinetic energy of the crate pulled up a rough incline?

Homework Statement A crate is pulled up a rough incline. The pulling force is parallel to the incline. The crate is pulled a distance of 5.79 m. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2 theta=23.4 degrees mass= 8.91kg Force pulling on box= 142N coefficient of friction= 0.292 Initial velocity of...

Kinetic Energy of a Particle in a semi-spherical bowl

Homework Statement A 410 g particle in a semi-spherical bowl of radius 0.9 m is released from rest at point A at the level of the center of the bowl, and the surface of the bowl is rough. The speed of the particle at B is 2.6 m/s. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s 2 . What is its kinetic...

How Far Will the Spring Compress in a Frictionless Collision?

Homework Statement A 2 kg block collides with a massless spring of spring constant 94 N/m attached to a wall. The speed of the block was observed to be 1.4 m/s at the moment of collision. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s 2 . How far does the spring compress if the surface on which the...
