You seem to be equivalating anonymity with security. That is a false equivalence. Anonymity is a form of security, but it's only one form, and you won't have much anonymity with Tails and Tor if you don't use them correctly.

There are some books aimed at people of your level. "Discovering Relativity for Yourself" is a book which teaches what you need beyond arithmetic to learn special relativity and even some general relativity. I have it myself and recommend it.

I learned the multiplication table in grade 3 15 years ago. I do not know what they do now, but a quick glance at Khan Academy also shows the multiplication table being taught in grade 3. Khan Academy claims to base their course on a typical US curriculum.

Griffiths is usually a third/fourth year textbook and used in standard sections for the course. I am not sure what they would use in an honors section, assuming they are offered.

It may depend on your subject as well. Most of my professors at the Community College of Baltimore County have masters, but I believe all of my science professors have had PhDs. Curse these general education requirements.

I'm a whiteboard fan and use one at home. I can't imagine using a chalkboard at home. All the dust would kill me. At college, blackboards are okay for short periods.

Yes. The GED test is supposedly more difficult now, but when I took it in December 2012, the GED test was very easy. You can qualify for federal financial aid with a GED, plus some people will be slightly more likely to hire you. Some colleges required a GED at minimum to enroll. Maybe not...
