Calculating Fill Time for Pressure Vessels: Inlet Parameters & Mass Flow Rate

Good catch, this looks more like it. Thanks

Calculating Fill Time for Pressure Vessels: Inlet Parameters & Mass Flow Rate

The mass flow inlet can be assumed constant, the inlet to this vessel occupies <5% of the capacities of the compressors supplying the flow. However, I know it takes much longer than the 30 seconds to fill this vessel, for that reason I know there is an error and I am trying to work out a DE to...

Calculating Fill Time for Pressure Vessels: Inlet Parameters & Mass Flow Rate

I have attached a screenshot of my work described in Mathcad. I would like it if someone could verify whether the calculation is valid or not. (As cited before I believe it is not, I just want an outside opinion).

    I need a quick-opening pressure vessel

If you have the ability to pressurize the vessel to a higher pressure than required for your purposes, why not implement a relief valve set to "pop" at a pressure immediately above your desired pressure?

Calculating Fill Time for Pressure Vessels: Inlet Parameters & Mass Flow Rate

I am needing to calculate the time required to pressurize the vessel to the inlet pressure of 420 psig. I am working on a DE at the moment however I do not seem to be making much progress. Is it possible to solve this without a DE? (I am thinking it is not).

Calculating Fill Time for Pressure Vessels: Inlet Parameters & Mass Flow Rate

Yes, I am assuming my vessel pressure to be 0 psig while inlet pressure to be 420 psig.

Calculating Fill Time for Pressure Vessels: Inlet Parameters & Mass Flow Rate

I am needing to calculate the fill time of a pressure vessel. I know the following parameters regarding the vessel: Volume, Temperature, Properties of the fluid media, inlet pipe diameter, flow rate of the inlet, pressure of the inlet. I tried calculating the mass flow rate of the inlet...

Energy required to tip a can?

I thought about that however I cannot figure out the geometry to calculate the new height of the center of gravity. I know the distance (x value) it will move is equal to (1/2*r), however I do not know how to calculate the height (i am looking at a triangle with only two knowns (90 deg angle...

Energy required to tip a can?

I want to calculate the minimum energy required to tip a can. (I have a mouse trap and have calculated the potential energy and I want to verify that it indeed can tip over my can.) I am thinking I have to calculate the potential energy of the can just as it is tipping and that is the...

Configuring a Triggering Device for a Mouse Trap Attached to a Can

I have a project that I am working on that has instructions as follows: 1. Nothing can be protruding form the can and the can must have a lid. 2. The the height of the can cannot exceed 2*d. 3. After the lid is shut on the can it must "tip/ flip" after 30 seconds. I have a mouse trap...

Pipe Pressure from discharge in Tank

    Or is the following formula applicable? Pressure= 14.7psi + [1.96 slug/ft^3*[30*(12)]in*[(32.2)*(12)]in/s^2]

Pipe Pressure from discharge in Tank

The diagram attached is a picture of the problem I have. I have a 10ft tall cylindrical tank with 20ft of pipe directly under it. The tank at full capacity can hold 100 gallons of water or 10 gallons per ft. I want to calculate the pressure of the water right before it leaves the pipe 20ft...

What is the resulting amperage from a Leyden jar discharge?

I need to figure out how to correctly calculate the Current being created from a leyden jar I have. I am attaching a print screen of a matchcad calculation that shows what I have done. However, I am calculating extremely high amperage. I believe my calculation is correct down to my charge, but I...

    Thermodynamic Ethanol Saturation

I am doing a project and this is a problem were are having: We are trying to calibrate a MQ-3 sensor with an arduino uno board, however we have to do a hand calculation to arrive at the theoretical ethanol content (amount of ethanol saturated in the air) before we can calibrate the sensor...
