Projectile motion finding initial speed of a ball pushed off a table

Thanks! Your absolutely right that fixed it. I feel kinda dumb now. We just learned the verticle horizontal stuff so I'm still a bit confused and get flipped around. thanks again :)

Projectile motion finding initial speed of a ball pushed off a table

A ball is projected horizontally from the edge of a table that is 0.823 m high, and it strikes the floor at a point 1.44 m from the base of the table. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s2 . What is the initial speed of the ball? An- swer in units of m/s. the table is .823 m high...

Finding limits when there is an absolute value in the numerator

Thanks! Ok I understand that now. I'm flipped around though. I can't use factoring like I did before because it won't cancel out or substitution because the denominator would still equal 0. What technique would I use to find the limit now? can i sort of ignore the negative sign like...

Finding limits when there is an absolute value in the numerator

Ok the problem is: lim x->-1 |x+1| / x2-1 (sorry i don't really know how to type the equation out) I think that you have to find the limit as x->-1 from both the left and right sides from right: so I got lim x->-1 = (x+1)/x2-1 = (x+1)/(x+1)(x-1) = 1/(x-1) =1/-1-1 =-1/2 How would I...
