Type 1 and 2 diabetes at the same time, nonsense?
It's certainly a form of diabetes which is new - as stated http://www.sld.cu/galerias/pdf/sitios/diabetes/double_diabetes-_definition,_diagnosis,_treatment,_prediction_and_prevention.pdf at the bottom of the page where it mentions it as just that, a "form of diabetes". Also, as mentioned in...- Kiyal

Type 1 and 2 diabetes at the same time, nonsense?
There's no doubt this new form of diabetes holds characteristics of insulin resistance - common with T2D along with showing auto-antibodies to B cells that occurs in T1D, therefore maybe the current classification of diabetes as we know it, needs to be revised to take account for this relatively...- Kiyal

Type 1 and 2 diabetes at the same time, nonsense?
I feel it it's more useful and causes less confusion...Many experts distance themselves from blankly stating a person can have type 1 and 2, instead they say a person can hold "Characteristics of Type 2" which seems to be a more accurate representation at hand. Wouldn't the definition of type 2...- Kiyal

Type 1 and 2 diabetes at the same time, nonsense?
A of people seem to wrongly assume that Type 1 and 2 diabetes are near enough the same condition, which is utterly false. My real issue is the fact that there are some within the Diabetic Community (And not) who feel the need to say that a Type 1 diabetic, can develop Type 2 diabetes (Insulin...- Kiyal

Type 1 and 2 diabetes at the same time, nonsense?
Even though a type 1 diabetic can have insulin resistance - a Type 1 cannot have the disease of Type 2 at the exact same time. I would agree that a type 1 can have insulin resistance to synthetic insulin that they inject, though that isn't the same as the definition of the disease Type 2, in...- Kiyal

Undergrad Why are the more distant galaxies/stars moving faster away?
Oh wow, that makes a lot of sense! I like that analogy with the rubber band and the coin! -
Undergrad Why are the more distant galaxies/stars moving faster away?
This helped me a lot, thank you! So gravity and electromagnetism holds together atoms and solar systems because the slow expansion of space can't overcome the forces of gravity/electromagnetism? So distances among solar systems etc get further apart, though we don't as we're held together by... -
Undergrad Why are the more distant galaxies/stars moving faster away?
The universe is expanding: Why is it that the further galaxies and stars are away from us they appear to be moving away at a much faster speed than ones closer to home? -
Do diabetics have sugary interstitial fluid?
Continues Glucose Monitors (CGM) used in people with diabetes to track their blood glucose levels every 5 minutes or so can be used to check their blood glucose from the interstitial fluid, obviously there is a time-lag between the blood that is directly from plasma and the interstitial fluid...- Kiyal

High School Can someone explain what it is meant by a 'Flat Universe'?
Thanks, this all really makes sense to me now! Yes! I meant really, really big! I'm pretty taken aback with this information, just amazing - really does make me feel so lucky to be able to find out the answers to these questions, thanks all. -
High School Can someone explain what it is meant by a 'Flat Universe'?
I get that mass affects space-time, in that it bends/distorts it. So when they say the universe is flat, are they referring to it on a wider scale? -
High School Can someone explain what it is meant by a 'Flat Universe'?
Thanks, you've been very helpful! -
High School Can someone explain what it is meant by a 'Flat Universe'?
"When physicists describe the Universe as being flat or nearly flat, they're talking geometry: how space and time are warped according to general relativity." - Can you explain that to me please? Yes I read it, thanks. -
High School Can someone explain what it is meant by a 'Flat Universe'?
I think I have some understanding here, so the universe is so massive that we can't detect any curvature, so geometry doesn't pick up any shape? Excuse my ignorance. -
High School Can someone explain what it is meant by a 'Flat Universe'?
I have been reading and looking at videos regarding cosmic inflation and it said that the universe is flat. I am no expert and have no mathematical background - I love reading about space and learning new things about it. It just really irritates me when things go right over my head and this...
