A question that has intrigued me for ages

you should be able to do it with dna but for one problem, if i remember correctly some parts of sequence are generated randomly. and i can see why that might be necessary, with a small genepool you'd need that to prevent clones. don't quote me on this.

What factors contribute to the behavior of fruit flies in featureless rooms?

speaking of robots, sometimes they will have to make precived random movements until they can home in on their bearings. say you have a tape line used as a track and the robot gets knocked off the track, if it acts like a roomba and just makes a turn until it senses the line it will appear...

Can Depression Be Effectively Treated Without Medication?

does anyone else notice when you sit alone all day reading books or on the computer you slowly fall into a state of depression, especially when it's something like continuous studying. after so many months you start to get lonely. i think your mind needs more stimulation than what you can find...

Why are the most confident people often the most incompetent?

i'd just like to say this one thing, know your audience, if you want to swagger then you have to pay a price for the cockyness (haters), humble confidence is best in pretty much any situation.

Why are the most confident people often the most incompetent?

i'd say i was hooked on phonics yet somehow aced mnemonics , i guess it just comes down to how your brain is wired and how your taught. i knew this guy who was idiot savant, but when i played him in pool it's like he was made for it.

I invented a card game based on the 'wheel'

this is my game based on my wheel theory, the question is how many non-repetitive combinations of letters that link (eg. ab, bc, cd, and ag, gy, ly ect.) can be found in this game, i don't know it myself and i figure this is the best place to post the question since it's a bit involved. bonus...

    Is Psychology Considered a Pseudo-Science?

my major problem is with the 'human' factor, a psychologist has to be analytical yet not let emotion interfere. i can tell you most all I've ever seen jump to conclusions and like to play a game 'let me see if i can outsmart you'. my responce has been 'damn, if I'm coming here don't patronize me...

Empathy for Children in War Zones

first off when you get bullets flying over your head the 'fun' disappears real quick, that sounds like a childs mindset. next, once you kill someone you'll always have it in that back of your head and if it isn't a 'justifiable' killing, whatever that is, you'll always have to wonder if you...
