High School Driving Through a Rainbow: The Truth Behind This Phenomenon
Thanks. I think I understand it a bit better. One more question...how does the hologram divisibility principle work. Is it a trick of the eye? If instead of cutting a piece off you placed a sheet over and cut a hole in the center of the sheet would the effect still occur and would you be able...- lookbehindu

High School Driving Through a Rainbow: The Truth Behind This Phenomenon
Once the reference and object beam reach the plate haven't they undergone spreading (similar to incoherent light). Also when both beams reach the plate aren't they not in phase anymore? So what was the point of keeping them in phase until that point? Also I'm having a hard time understanding...- lookbehindu

High School Driving Through a Rainbow: The Truth Behind This Phenomenon
Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but could you? I tried PM'ing you but it says you don't accept 'em. Do you have any helpful links (excluding wikipedia and the obvious other generic informational links) to help me understand the topic better. Also if you know of any video...- lookbehindu

Graduate Wrapping my head around holography
thank you for clearing that part up. Is there any other information on regular holograms and is it possible to have live holography where the audience is viewing the screen and the object is being interfered by the laser from behind? Is that how it works?- lookbehindu

Graduate Wrapping my head around holography
SO the concept of the world as a hologram does not derive from the concept of regular holograms? Also does anyone have another video depicting a hologram. The architecture video I found really fascinated me but I can't seem to find anything else.- lookbehindu

Graduate Wrapping my head around holography
This is the first video I've found that seems to show a real hologram. It's pretty cool, but according to http://static.ddmcdn.com/gif/hologram-7.gif the object is placed in the path of the laser (labeled object) to capture it on the film. How was it done in the architecture case? Was a scaled...- lookbehindu

Graduate Wrapping my head around holography
well since its film definitely not ANY angle but that's like saying you can look at the Mona Lisa from behind... What I meant was you can view the static film from an angle that allows until you can't and the image will look dynamic so: _________________ HOLOGRAM...- lookbehindu

Graduate Wrapping my head around holography
Having trouble wrapping my head around holography after watching/reading a ton of stuff on the topic. What I think I have found to be true is that real holograms are 3D images captured onto film that are able to be viewed at any angle through the naked eye. So the concept of a 3d image or...- lookbehindu
