How Can the Unit Circle Prove the Cosine Half-Angle Formula?

Homework Statement Prove that cos(\frac{\theta}{2}) = \pm\sqrt{\frac{1+cos\theta}{2}} using the unit circle. Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution I'm not sure if it's possible for you to provide a clear graph on here for the solution but a link would also be nice :)

Is it known what dark matter is?

There are MACHOS and WIMPS that are thought to be dark matter, right? However, I forgot what they stand for, or what they are, exactly.

Is the Big Bang Theory the Only Valid Explanation for the Universe's Origin?

I'm not denying that the 'Big Bang' existed, I'm just exercising ideas about the physical nature of the young universe.

Is the Big Bang Theory the Only Valid Explanation for the Universe's Origin?

I personally believe the 'Big Bang' was more of a little 'poof' of matter that came into existence. I also believe that in the first few billionths of a second of this our universe, it was in a liquid state because of the high pressure and heat that resulted from compacting all of our...

Hubble ultra deep field - beyond the big bang

This reminds me of a topic on the fourth spatial dimension, and I think just as the second dimension operates on a third dimensional sphere, our third dimension might operate on a fourth dimensional hypersphere (the balloon). So, if we were in the second dimension, and we went all the way...

How does the movement of stars compare to the movement of planets

Ok thanks for clarifying. Haha I was under the impression that the galaxies didn't move...

How does the movement of stars compare to the movement of planets

What causes the local group to move? I mean, in a galaxy there's a black hole in the center that causes the stars to orbit around it, but in a cluster of galaxies, is there anything that can cause them to move so fast?
