Multi variable partial differentiation, cant solve
Thats great thx. dz/dx = df/du du/dx = fu * 1 = fu dz/dy = df/du du/dy = fu * -1 = -fu dz/dx + dz/dy = fu - fu = 0- LovePhysics

Multi variable partial differentiation, cant solve
Homework Statement If z = f(x-y), show that dz/dx + dz/dy = 0 2. The attempt at a solution I thought: dz/dx = fx dz/dy = -fy which doesn't make sense really... because its not equal to 0. or maybe it should be: dz/dx = dz/df * df/dx = fx * ?? dz/dy = dz/df * df/dy = -fy * ??- LovePhysics

Can Anyone Program Artificial Satellites or Do You Need Specific Skills?
I have a question regarding programming of artificial satellites if someone would be nice to answer. :) Well I'm assuming that satellites need to be programmed to function (according to the clients' wishes). I have a few questions regarding this: 1. In what kind of programming languages are...- LovePhysics

Books/Info on Computer Science applied in Aerospace fields
Hello, I'm looking for books or websites about computer science/software engineering in aerospace technology. Stuff like, what kind of programming languages are used for stuff, the infrastructure, etc, etc, for satellites, aircraft, rockets, etc, etc... basically any info on...- LovePhysics

How Does Linear Algebra Propel Aerospace Engineering?
At our university, next to Calculus 1,2,3 every other math is linear algebra. Can someone explain what an aerospace engineer can do with linear algebra? Where and how is it applied/what is its use?- LovePhysics

How to Calculate Artificial Gravity in a Rotating Space Station?
This is not actually homework, I'm just trying to calculate the speeds/forces needed to create 9,81 m/s2 artificial gravity (outward) within a rotating barrel in space. Homework Statement I read on the internet that a space station would require a diameter of 224m and an angular speed of 2...- LovePhysics

Aircraft Wing Research: Comparing Types & Advantages/Disadvantages
Do you guys know of any books with research on aircraft wings? I would like a book which contains comparisons between many types of wings, with their advantages/disadvantages weighed out against one another.- LovePhysics

How to calculate lift for delta wing
I've never calculated lift on a delta wing, but why would the lift formula be any different? Approach it in a way you would any wing, with the proper values of course.- LovePhysics

How can a student create a gas turbine engine from scratch?
This discussion is becoming really ridiculous. Do you want to bet who a 'jet company' will hire if there are two people from the same university and degree, but one has made gas turbines and the other hasn't? (and why) Not that getting accepted anywhere matters to me, I just want to acquire...- LovePhysics

How can a student create a gas turbine engine from scratch?
I doubt it. Read all you want about something as simple as welding. After a year of reading about all the techniques, you still will not be able to weld better than someone who has practiced for two weeks. Why do you think doctors have practiced so much on dead animals and what not during...- LovePhysics

Deciding aerospace as my course
It's a major which will keep challenging you, so you need a lot of motivation. :) I've done a few other majors, so I know from first hand experience what the difference between aerospace and other majors is. Motivation (and a set of healthy brains) is all you need. Each year in Holland there...- LovePhysics

How can a student create a gas turbine engine from scratch?
Well, I do appreciate all the worries and suggestions, and I will take more safety measures to protect myself and others. As far as 'data acquisition' is concerned. I sure do want to do that, but I'm still in the dark on how that has to be done. I don't have access to expensive equipment that...- LovePhysics

How can a student create a gas turbine engine from scratch?
I will tell you why. I believe that next to my studies I have experiment with these things in real, to fully understand them. What good is it if I'm constantly reading about how to calculate the efficiency, and I don't know what, if I'm not even able to work with these things in real. The only...- LovePhysics

How can a student create a gas turbine engine from scratch?
Hello guys, I'm a second year BSc aerospace student in Holland, and I'm thinking about making a gas turbine engine. I hope to specialize in powerplants eventually. You people seem knowledgeable, so I thought I'd ask my question here. Anyway, bare with me a bit... I first thought about...- LovePhysics
