Undergrad Derivation of the Laplacian in Spherical Coordinates
Hi all, Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this. For some time, I have wanted to derive the Laplacian in spherical coordinates for myself using what some people call the "brute force" method. I knew it would take several sheets of paper and could quickly become disorganized, so I...- LyleJr

Undergrad Physics Undergrad Struggles to Retain Knowledge
I think it did a decent job at both. The entirety of Chapter 3 was spent formalizing the material within Linear Algebra, but again we only did Chapters 1-4 which was just less than half the book.- LyleJr

Undergrad Physics Undergrad Struggles to Retain Knowledge
Thanks! I have been doing something similar, at least with QM, by supplementing my reading with lecture videos from MIT. It really does help.- LyleJr

Undergrad Physics Undergrad Struggles to Retain Knowledge
I am a Physics undergrad with 3 semesters left. I just finished my first QM course this past Spring and did very well and enjoyed the class greatly, but I find that information is already starting to slip away from my memory banks, as it were. It's so much to take in and to be honest, we only...- LyleJr

Schools Is a Master's Degree Required for PhD Programs in the UK?
Well, my feeling at this point is that if I do move there to purse a Master's degree, I would try and stay in the country to also get my PhD. Of course, a million possible things could happen that would change that, but as I stated in my first post, the personal finical costs alone of moving...- LyleJr

Schools Is a Master's Degree Required for PhD Programs in the UK?
Hi, When I finish my undergraduate physics degree here in the USA, I would like to go on to get a PhD abroad, in particular in the United Kingdom. I have noticed that a lot of Universities in the US have programs that allow a BS in physics to go directly into a PhD program, rather than getting...- LyleJr

What motivated me to pursue a Physics degree at 30 years old?
Hi everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself. I am Lyle, and I live in Little Rock, AR. I went to college way back in 2005 right out of high school to study math, but things didn't go very well for me. All my fault, and long story short, I was brunt out on school. I should have taken some...- LyleJr
