Copper or Brass exhaust manifold.
Thanks for the input. Someone mentioned somewhere that exhaust gasses through copper will create copper disulphide. Not sure about this, but I don't want to create any extra carcinogens. The main reason I wanted to use copper was to pull heat away from the engine, but as mentioned I feel like if...- MachX

Copper or Brass exhaust manifold.
Hello All, I am drawing up a design for a water-cooled exhaust manifold for a small engine. It would be a simple design of an exhaust exit pipe mounted to a flange, with a tubular copper heat exchanger liquid filled coil wrapped around the exit pipe right near the cylinder. The copper would...- MachX

Power conversion logic. What am I missing?
Hello, I have a project that involves the coupling of a 12V Alternator with a small engine to power a loaded 12V battery. The gas engine is 1.4HP (1043.979Watts) coupled to a 40 Amp 12V alternator which is charging a 12V battery under a 35 Amp load. The way I see it, the 35 amp load...- MachX

What Will Happen to Earth's Landmass When All Land Erodes into Mineral Dust?
I am trying to have a discussion and get at you phinds.. and your friends... Even if this misunderstood phenomena does not affect us... It affects YOU obviously... And I do not appreciate the fact that you are claiming that I am "Making This Up." Define "Dark" energy... as a form of...- MachX

How do you make a 1 kilometer seal?
Extremely ridiculously impractical... But I love the idea! The forces at work here are too massive for any economical seal... IF the "cylinder is put into place and displaces the water below it...Yes! the energy would be amazing... But...Then what? I dare anyone to lift the piston back up...- MachX

Of course not, but if the sun absorbed dark energy from a random wondering source... and grew... to age much longer then...- MachX

What Will Happen to Earth's Landmass When All Land Erodes into Mineral Dust?
So hypothetically...In the future...When all "dry" land has eroded into mineral dust...And volcanic activity is slower...being that 71% of the surface is water... Will this planet become waterworld with a few ice islands as a product of displacement? Any thought to the final settling of the...- MachX

Help Understanding Wiring Diagrams.
Hello All, I was wondering if anyone can help me interpret these wiring schematics. As some know, I am trying to use a stepper motor to generate power. The motor can be wired in both unipolar and bipolar configurations. From my research, it seems to get the most power a Bipolar configuration...- MachX

Measurement Devices: Tachometers
Hello All, I am experimenting with DC motors and different speed settings, and I am looking for a way to measure RPM at different voltages and loads. I have been looking at different tachometers and trying to determine what my best option is. The reading does not have to be super sensitive...- MachX

Adding DC voltages in Series or Paralell
True, I understand that, but these power supplies are just examples. In my case I want to combine them because I have two renewable energy sources and I have a known load value that will draw lower than the rating of each power source individually . The sources are subject to fluctuation as a...- MachX

Adding DC voltages in Series or Paralell
Thanks for the info berkeman, Let's say I have two voltage sources 9V 1.2A and 12V 1.1 and I want to add these together in series to provide a regulated 5V 900Ma. Would it be best to add the sources and then regulate to 5V? or regulate both to 5V separately and then add together as equal...- MachX

Adding DC voltages in Series or Paralell
Hello all, I am trying to get my head straight about wiring multiple DC voltages together. I should know the answer to this question, but I thought I'd ask someone else. If I have two DC power sources...Source A is 12V 1A and Source B is 5.3V 980mA...and I want to combine A+B to get the most...- MachX

Examples for innovative ideas which helps rural india
I found this to be innovative: http://www.biolitestove.com/homestove/overview/ Taking a ni-cad battery to power a fan which increases wood burn efficiency by blowing air into the furnace... and using the heat to cook, and the incoming air across a thermoelectric generator plate to recharge...- MachX

How can I prevent backflow and overheating in my flashlight charging circuit?
Hrmm, is this one you built? or is the circuit made by a company? To the best of my knowledge some devices will have an internal switch so that when the battery reaches its capacity the circuit will activate the switch and stop the current from flowing into the battery. If the light is one color...- MachX
