Inclined Plane Static Friction Coefficient
(μs)cosθ for the x-component? Oh crap, would it instead be Fnsinθ? edit: Sorry, not sure how to do subscripts on here- Mark Trice

Inclined Plane Static Friction Coefficient
Here is my attempt at this so far. I can barely even start this because doing this without rotating the axis just doesn’t make sense to me. Should I put my x-axis through the center of the object parallel to the ground rather than on the ground?- Mark Trice

Inclined Plane Static Friction Coefficient
Sorry for the confusing question; this question is based on a lab we did and I forgot to explain the situation of the lab. So basically in the lab we raised a piece of wood at an incline until a block on the inclined plane began to slide by overcoming the static friction. The angle θ is the...- Mark Trice

Inclined Plane Static Friction Coefficient
The problem states "μ = tanθ is true no matter the axis you choose on an inclined plane. Prove this by making the x-axis parallel to the ground and solving for μ to get tanθ".- Mark Trice

Inclined Plane Static Friction Coefficient
Homework Statement The static friction coefficient on an inclined plane is equal to tan(θ). The problem requires me to prove this also works by using an x-axis parallel to the ground rather than parallel to the incline. I understand how to get tan(θ) using the incline as the x-axis, but I don't...- Mark Trice
