How to find equivalent circuits
It's helpful to find equivalent circuits because you can narrow a circuit with many resistors and a source to just one source and one resistor. The only thing you are doing with open circuit is removing the load resistor, for circuits 1 it's typically the resistor on the far right, or on the...- mathwhiz

Math Course Options for EE Majors: Maxwell's Equations
I'm a senior electrical engineering major and am actually having fun in this mathematical computations course I'm currently taking. I'm trying to find out what kind of math course would be beneficial in obtaining a deeper understanding Maxwell's Equations, basically gradients, dot products, and...- mathwhiz

How Can I Extend Battery Life in Classroom Electromagnet Experiments?
I've run into similar problems with my capstone project, look into lithium batteries. I've found some that can handle high currents for a decent amount of time. Like stated previously your only other option is to get more turns because the magnetic field is proportional to either the current...- mathwhiz

Preparing for Signals and Systems
I actually do have Matlab (student version), and Maple on my computer but like you said I really need to dig into it and learn it. Outside of basic matrix manipulations, declaring variables, plotting, and a few things dealing with differential equations I know nothing about it. With Maple its...- mathwhiz

Preparing for Signals and Systems
Okay cool, I know I will be good at anything dealing with linear algebra since I just completed a proof based linear algebra class vs the MATLAB based one I should have taken. Either way it looks like I'm pretty solid math wise, i'll probably just focus on mastering the laplace transform, and...- mathwhiz

Preparing for Signals and Systems
I apologize in advanced because I know this isn't the right section, but I posted these same questions in the general coursework forum and received no answers. I've already taken circuits and signals is up next. What should I be reviewing in order to prepare myself, during the break, for...- mathwhiz

Preparing for Signals and Systems
Signals and Systems Vs Circuits I I really just would like to know which course, in your opinion, was more difficult circuits I or signals? I've already taken circuits and signals is up next. Also, what should I be reviewing in order to prepare myself, during the break, for Signals and...- mathwhiz

What is the Angular Momentum of a Projectile at a Given Time?
So, we were on the right track with using properties of cross products but it should have been like this. L = r X p = (xi+yj) X m(Vxi + Vyj) after simplifying we get, L = m[xVyk + yVx(-k)] x being distance from origin @ specific time, and y being height @ specific time. He did...- mathwhiz

What is the Angular Momentum of a Projectile at a Given Time?
I appreciate all of the help, I only have a certain amount of tries and I have almost exhausted all of them for this part. I am going to talk with my professor tomorrow at this point, I will post the solution tomorrow after speaking with him or the TA's at the school. Thanks again- mathwhiz

What is the Angular Momentum of a Projectile at a Given Time?
Okay so I used (RXP)z=rxpy-rypx I ended up with (Vi,xt)[(Vi,y-gt)m]-(Vit+.5at2)(Vxm) = mt[Vi,xVi,y-Vi,xgt-Vi,yVx+(Vxat)/2] All of the Vx's and Vi's started jumbling together towards the end so I may have done the algebra wrong hence why I got the wrong answer, I'm going to redo it right now- mathwhiz

What is the Angular Momentum of a Projectile at a Given Time?
Sorry for the delay, so I understand what your saying about using just vectors. The answer I got using the equation was -7718.15 kg*m2/s. Webassign said it was wrong, but I'm going to go back and use stored values since it is real sensitive about sig figs.- mathwhiz

What is the Angular Momentum of a Projectile at a Given Time?
Homework Statement Background The concepts of torque and angular momentum are unnecessary when analyzing the motion of a projectile; however, using these concepts for an analysis of projectile motion does show that the concepts are perfectly general, and are not restricted purely to the...- mathwhiz

2 boxes stacked, determining forces on each other.
I ended up getting the answer, I was over-thinking the problem as I do sometimes, especially when it's late. Thank You for your reply- mathwhiz

2 boxes stacked, determining forces on each other.
Homework Statement The mass of the upper block in the stack is 0.85 kg. The mass of the lower block in the stack is 1.67 kg. The coefficients of friction between the two blocks are: static 0.75, and kinetic 0.61. The child's mother, who likes to encourage his experiments, has oiled a small...- mathwhiz
