Graduate What Is Negative Mass and How Does It Compare to Positive Mass?
Ive heard that its believed that a particle with a negative mass, could "in theory" travel faster than light. my question is, what does negative mass mean? how does it differ from a positive mass, or having no mass at all?- Matrixman13

Undergrad Universe is expanding faster than the speed of light
I always thought that the universe is expanding faster than the speed of light. Am i wrong, or is that only during the proposed period of "inflation" in the early universe.- Matrixman13

Graduate Is Reaching Absolute Zero Truly Impossible?
o I am sorry. I failed to explain what i meant by energy. i was speaking of the method used to try to produce temperatures nearing absolute zero. Lasers are aimed at a particle from many different directions, in an attempt to "pin" the particle to one spot.- Matrixman13

Graduate Is Reaching Absolute Zero Truly Impossible?
Am i right when i say its impossible to reach absolute zero? Because of the uncertainty principle, you would need an infinite amount of energy to keep a particle completely still. Thanx- Matrixman13

High School Can the Speed of Light Change or Increase?
I've read Joao Magueijo's book...Faster Than The Speed of Light. His theory is that in early stages of the universe...the fifth dimension was "unraveled", allowing light to travel faster than the modern speed limit. As the universe cooled, the fifth dimension curled up, slowing the speed of...- Matrixman13

Undergrad Divine proportion in many world theory
thanx "arildno"...you've given me new insight on what i really should be doing...i'm not completely engrossed in this theory, but i now know that if anything can come out of it, i need to first find an understanding of the science itself. i can't let my own theory weigh me down!...thank you...- Matrixman13

Undergrad Divine proportion in many world theory
okay those sites are great...but what does that have to do with my theory...i just want someone to tell me anything extra i should know...or anything that disproves my theory, if that's possible at the moment...thanx- Matrixman13

Undergrad Divine proportion in many world theory
i also have other ideas connecting Phi with physics...i have seen a site...i can't find it at the moment...that found a ratio between the proton and electrons's mass...that was put in terms of Phi. if they can do that...then there must be some kind of significance to Phi in the string...- Matrixman13

Undergrad Divine proportion in many world theory
ok...im 14...so i am not expecting anything at all out of this theory...i just wanted to play around with it and see where it could go... okay my idea first needs an understanding of the divine proportion in the gowth of trees...many of you probably already know this...but just in case...tree...- Matrixman13

High School Airplane Velocity and Wind Speed: A Scientific Debate | Xeno's Perspective
would the same thing happen with a person running in the wind...i definitely think not...but that is different then thinking about an airplane or a boat right...unless the Earth's surface were moving...then you could add the speeds, am i correct- Matrixman13

Undergrad Has number phi ever popped up in modern or classical physics
I have done some research, and I found this site http://www.tshankha.com/phi.htm It apparently shows that phi has been appearing in quantum equations. I'm only 14...so i don't really know what the math means. could someone please explain what's going on in this site thanx- Matrixman13

Undergrad Could the age of the universe be older than we thought?
Kurdt, how do you know the universe is a sphere? Recent studies of the critical density in the universe have favored a flat one, not a sphere. I'm not saying that i am definitely right or that you are wrong, just watch what you're saying.- Matrixman13
