Find Maximum Velocity Range in Velocity Selector using Vmax and B values
I have a velocity selector that consists of two parallel plate capacitors each with a diameter of 20cm (L), and a distance between them d. The capacitors are connected to a power source that delivers a voltage V. A magnetic field goes into the selector and has a strength B. Given that d can be...- michael650

Actual Scenario Qualitative Wiring Problem
There is this one question on my physics homework that has been eluding me for quite a while. The problem itself is simple and is built upon common sense yet for some reason I can't wrap my head around it. The problem reads that the installation instructions for connecting an outlet to the...- michael650

Undergrad Basic Capacitors: What Happens When a Thick Slab is Inserted?
The question I had was more qualitative than quantitative, but I always preferred to understand concepts in both ways clearly. Can someone explain what happens to the capacitance of parallel-plate capacitor when a thick slab of metal is inserted between the plates, parallel to them but not in...- michael650

Undergrad Question Related to Electric Flux
I am having a hard time understanding the reasoning behind my answers on this physics homework. We are currently practicing electric flux (without Gauss Laws) and the answer I got was correct, I just do not understand how I got it. The question is... Undergrad Electrical fields can be negated, but what about gravitational fields?
I was curious, that if we surround some region with a conducting surface, we shield it from electric fields, correct? Well I was wondering specifically why we cannot shield a region from gravitational fields in the same manner? I figured it was pretty intuitive, but the more I thought about it...- michael650
