What is an intern supposed to do?
It sounds like your uni guys, let out into the big bad world to have a look. My advice is to ask the engineer if you can follow a technician round for a day and help him out. Then you'll get into the heart of the plant aligning pumps, fixing pipe work, overhauling equipment. The techs will...- Mike.

Undergrad How can I make myself like math more?
The harder you try now sean the more you will get paid later on. I've just started a mechanical degree, Its only 1 day a week (work the other days on plant) And maths is the hardest (compaired to mechanical science and Other subjects) But companies like degrees with skills so keep in there...- Mike.

Bending equation, can someone check my answer?
Homework Statement The cross-section of an idealised I section beam has overall dimensions 12mm x 240mm deep. If the web and Flange are both 25mm Thick, determine the second moment of area of the section. If the maximum bending stress is limited to 100MN/m2, determine the maximum bending...- Mike.

Building a pump from scratch, engineering competition
IT has to pump 30liters of water per min for 30 min. So after 30 min they want 900 liters in a tank (4 meters high) Cost isn't a problem but cheaper is better. Weight is a problem having to be less than 15kg. Our idea firstly was a centrifugal pump, but it needs to be self priming...- Mike.

Undergrad Home Made Pool Heater: Calculate Heating Time & Coal Use
As long is its possible i'll give it a go. And even if it isn't i'll still try. As for filling it with hot water from the house, i'd like to but i think my parents would kills me. I will post some pic's of the copper piping when i have made that. and test results. I have a couple of...- Mike.

Undergrad Home Made Pool Heater: Calculate Heating Time & Coal Use
This information is fantastic. So Its going to take along time to heat up, but if it works this isn’t a problem. I am having some reservation about my original manifold design, its very simple and I think might not work. Sorry i don’t have a photo of it but i looks like this...- Mike.

Are Mtech Graduates in USA and UK Paid Differently Than Engineers?
I am training to me a mechanical tech at the moment, although i am on a terrible wage (apprenticeship) when I'm out my time i should start on £24,000 a year. This is a starting wage and increase as you become more and more competent and experienced. Hope this helps, it also changes widely from...- Mike.
