Part-Time Aerospace Engineer: Encouragement for Busy Professionals

Thanks for your input; I really appreciate hearing this stuff. I guess what I'm really asking is this: After getting a couple of responses on this thread, I googled "part-time engineer" and found sites offering part-time employment. But is this incredibly rare? As in have you ever met a...

Part-Time Aerospace Engineer: Encouragement for Busy Professionals

Thanks, guys. I do have a passion for engineering. The issue is that I want to know my kids, and when I see a post about "enginnering takes over your life," I get kind of nervous. I guess I could "handle" a full-time job, so long as it was full-time as in a 40 hour work-week, and not full-time...

Part-Time Aerospace Engineer: Encouragement for Busy Professionals

Bummer. OK... If we're not talking 9-5, what are we talking? I was so taken with the idea of engineering it just never occurred to me to ask this kind of stuff; and no, teaching wouldn't be all that fulfilling, though at least I'd get to do math/physics/other such fun.

Part-Time Aerospace Engineer: Encouragement for Busy Professionals

I read down in the engineering forum that aerospace engineering takes over your life. Anybody have any encouragement for someone (ie, me) who wants to go into aerospace engineering but won't be able to handle a full-time job?

Aerospace Engineering: Job Opportunities in the Northeast

Is there no way to work in aerospace engineering part-time? I really want to go into it, but I won't be able to handle a full-time job.

What Is Fire and Why Is It Colored and Shaped That Way?

What is fire? I learned once upon a time that it's plasma, but that doesn't really get me anywhere... why is it colored/shaped the way it is/etc etc etc? :bugeye: thanx folks!

Why Does Water Expand When it Freezes?

Thanks! Is there anything else that gets less dense when it freezes?

Why Does Water Expand When it Freezes?

I read that water expands when it freezes due to it's hydrogen bond. What on Earth (or ocean, for that matter) does a hydrogen bond have to do with becoming less dense with freezing  ? Please explain taking into consideration that I haven't taken chem. since 10th grade. Thanks!

What Does 'Normal' Really Mean in Our Daily Lives?

average, according to your upbringing, RARELY synonymous with "good" or "proper" BTW--what difference does it make? If it's just to define a word, a fun one to work on is "is"

What is the Philosophical Explanation for Gravity?

Ahhh, c'mon. Everything has to do with philosophy. Or better put: philosophy has to do with everything. You can't latch onto something and be all posessive that "it's a subject of physics." Knowledge is increased by overlap of different subjects. Hey, nuclear fission was discovered by...

    Newton's three laws and friction

Doesn't your textbook have a bunch of problems (with answers to the odd problems in the back of the book)? If your text doesn't, I'm sure your library has a book that does.

How do crumple zones help in reducing the impact of a car crash on passengers?

a dependent and controlled variable in the context of the rest of your post, or just in general? As far as impulse and momentum go: they are not the same thing, but they do have to do with each other. Momentum is the mass of something multiplied by its velocity. So if you're falling and...

    How does water extinguish fire?

    Thanks, people...This is so cool!

    How does water extinguish fire?

OK, now I'm feeling REALLY ignorant... What's combustion temperature? Also, I've heard a number of times of using water as a cooling agent (especially in nuclear reactors), but why does water cool things down so well? Thanks!
