Where can I take a general physics course 101 at online?
Saylor Academy! PHYS 101: https://learn.saylor.org/course/view.php?id=16 PHYS 102: https://learn.saylor.org/course/view.php?id=18 They are also Calculus-based, but Mechanics might be manageable without.- MuonMinus

Photon emission in electronic transitions
How would you explain, on a basic level, why only one photon (as opposed to two, three...) is emitted when an electron in an atom changes its energy level? This is for students with only introductory Physics background.- MuonMinus

How Does Standing Up Affect the Swing Period of a Child?
This is probably how it was meant to be done. I just did not think it would be a reasonable approximation. That's only if the child is old enough. Otherwise, it is a way to get exercise (by pushing), contemplating forced oscillations.- MuonMinus

How Does Standing Up Affect the Swing Period of a Child?
Homework Statement Question: If a child gets up from sitting position to standing while swinging, how does the period change? Homework Equations Period of a physical pendulum: T = 2π√(I/mgL), where I is the moment of inertia and L is the distance between the pivot and center of mass Period of...- MuonMinus

Undergrad Creative ideas for electrostatics demos/labs
I am trying to put together some demonstrations for E&M class related to the topic of conductors in electric field, particulary that the field inside is zero (something like Faraday cage) and that the field gets stronger with curvature. I have seen videos of the courses with some great...- MuonMinus

Physics Do Physics Instructors Get Paid More Than Math Instructors?
Well, I was finally told that the course would count as 4.5 credits, which means that an hour of lab "pays" as half a credit. I guess that's better than nothing!- MuonMinus

Physics Do Physics Instructors Get Paid More Than Math Instructors?
This makes sense (actually, it does not, because it is so low :)) However, I am not interested in the number as much as in the fact that a physics instructor teaches a 4 credit course that is 1 hour a week longer than a math 4 credit course and whether there is compensation for that. (Not to...- MuonMinus

Physics Do Physics Instructors Get Paid More Than Math Instructors?
I am considering teaching a physics course at the community campus of a state university. I know how much adjunct math instructors get paid there. If I teach one 4-credit physics course, I would be spending an hour more in the classroom than if I taught a 4-credit math course, because of the...- MuonMinus
