Undergrad What Are the Chances of Life on Jupiter's Moons and Other Saturnian Moons?
I would go with either Titan or Enceladus. Check out these recent discoveries with Titan: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/06/100606103125.htm -

Question about The Big One in California
You may find this interesting: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1858700,00.html" As I am sure you know, a difference of 1.0 on the Richter scale represents a shaking amplitude that is 10 times larger. A 6.0 earthquake would not be good. Take a look here as well...- nickdk

Undergrad Universe Expansion: What Force Triggered the Big Bang?
Completely curious. Would this suggest that essentially our universe is spawned from other universes? Or say, our universe was born from the energy&mass of another...and it then adjoined the others? -

Calculating IR Energy: 1.614 x 107 MHz
E = hv v=1.614x10^13 hz h = 6.63x10^-34 E = 1.07x10^-20 J E/1000 = kJ E = 1.07x10^-23 kJ per mole 1.07x10^-23 * (6.02 x 10^23 atoms/mol) E = 6.44 kJ/mol hope that is clear, any questions let me know :)- nickdk

Undergrad Why has no one seen Neptune with the naked eye?
Interesting question and good logic. However, Neptune is big but it is really far away. As far as the values for apparent magnitude go, they are approximates, as the Wikipedia article states "These are only approximate values at visible wavelengths". Seeing that the limiting magnitude for the...- nickdk

Quantitative Titration - NaOH and HCl
For question 2 it refers to the chemical equation which is: HCl + NaOH -> NaCL + H2O In which case the moles of base used per mole of acid is 1. It is a 1:1 ration, and your titration shows this. M(base) = n/V(L) .095(.0158) = n n = .0015 and M(acid) = n/V(L) .06(.025) = n n= .0015 a 1:1 mole...- nickdk

Calculating Force for an Exceptional Standing Jump: Physics Homework Problem
Work = Force * Distance Force = (9.81)(66) Work = (9.81)(66)(.80) Work = 517.968 J Doesn't account for the crouching distance, but it may be irrelevant, someone else will probably cover that. I hope I went in the right direction with this.- nickdk

Trouble understanding orbital hybridization
All single (covalent) bonds are sigma bonds, and every bond after that is pi bonds. For example: If you have carbon bonded to four hydrogen atoms, then you have 4 single bonds, therefore you have 4 sigma bonds. Where as if you have elemental Nitrogen (N2), you have a triple bond, so there is 1... -
