Fractals/Dendrites and the Dissolving of Phenoxyethanol in Water
Yes! The little arms look very much like they are covered in cilia! When I set the camera up again I'll try to see how small they really get. The largest wiggle around 50-100hz and the smaller ones seem to go even faster, I might have to crank my camera up to the max to see the smallest features. -
Fractals/Dendrites and the Dissolving of Phenoxyethanol in Water
I shot some high speed footage of phenoxyethanol dissolving into water and observed some fractal/dendrite like patters at the edge of thin droplets that float on the surface of the water. I suspect that the water under the droplet becomes saturated very quickly as the phenoxyethanol is not... -
Calculating Voltage Drop for 200HP Motor at 480V
You have to look it up in the American Wire Gauge chart (AWG). Take a look here http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=wire+gauge+chart&btnG=Google+Search- nik282000

Wireless transmission of electricity
Berkeman you got it. There would be a million problems, the bigest ones I can think of (other then the damage to us people and other livign things) would be the occurrence of nodes in the RF. That would mean some places would not beable to get power, adding a transmitter to fill the node would...- nik282000

Can I produce electricity by using permanent magnets with no moving parts?
Once you heat it past the Curie temperature it losed its ability to hold a madnetic field and AFAIK it loses its maknetization completely so you would really only beable to do it once.- nik282000

Should Children Have Access to Firearms and Explosives?
A hard hat vs a full throttle chain saw? Well it might hide the gore Best bet if you 100% have to use a chain saw have a buddy around to lend a hand. Even my little 12inch saw can still give you some scary moments, more so because the chain is too old and streatched (tents to slip off the end...- nik282000

Motor-Generated Radio: Investigation of a Strange Phenomenon
I had a simmilar situation last summer. Between about 10pm and 1am most of the electrical devices in my house would make the faintest buzzing noise but it wasn't a constant buzz it was pullsed like some one talking. It came from the filliment of lamps and speakers the loudest. It turns out that...- nik282000

What Happens When You Connect Earth and Neutral Wires in a Power Supply?
Belive me you would know. The polarized prongs on (for example) a lamp make sure that the larger part of the bulb contact (the screw cap) is attached to neutral. That means that if you change a bulb without unpluging the lamp all you will be able to touch while unscrewing the bulb is the neutral...- nik282000

Why Do Different Countries Use 220V@50Hz and 120V@60Hz?
Not to dig up a dead thread but I read a biography on tesla 2 years ago and remember reading about the 50hz vs 60hz debate. Tesla intended his generators to be run at 60hz but the french operators (at the first ac generator in europe) didn't want to speed up their machines, or something the...- nik282000
