Undergrad Torque for sharpening pencils with different diameters
Hello guys, if i sharpen 2 pencils with 2 different Diameters (thin and jumbo), which one will have a higher torque ( while sharpening), thus make it harder to sharpen? Let's assume that the angle of the pencil tips are the same, both have same wood of same density, the push force is the same... -

What Are Tolerances on Dimensions with Deviations in DIN 16901?
it Looks like it as well, but what are "tolerances on dimensions with deviations entered against the dimensions"? I am inspecting a sampe, and have a drawing and the dimensions are with no tolerances. The only indication is in the remark section, "tolerances are according to DIN 16901".- patehi

What Are Tolerances on Dimensions with Deviations in DIN 16901?
Hi all, i have stumbled across a drawing which referenced DIN 16901 for its tolerance. I have a table of DIN 16091 which i don't understand. For the first half of the tables, the tolerances are + and -, which i understand. The second half (tolerances on dimensions with Deviations entered...- patehi

How to Determine the Breaking Force of Pencil Lead?
i will try to get the numerical results, but just for reassurance, the force which registers on the load cell would be the Ay, correct? If that's the case, i should calculate Ay?- patehi

How to Determine the Breaking Force of Pencil Lead?
i have revised the forces acting on the System. As you can see, S is the stress concentration at the quill and P is longitudinal stress of lead. F is the force pushing the whole System onto the load cell. In the paper it is however not defined at which length was the mechanical pencil clamped...- patehi

How to Determine the Breaking Force of Pencil Lead?
Homework Statement Hi guys, i came across a paper about an Investigation of pencil-lead breaks as acoustic Emission sources by Markus G.R. Sause (it's downloadable everywhere). The Setup of the Experiment can be seen in the Picture i attached. Now the Problem i have is to find the correct...- patehi

Flexural strength of triangular prism
Hello forum, could someone share a formula to calculate the flexural strength and flexure modulus of a beam with a rounded triangular cross-section? Namely triangular crayons, which is rounded on the edges. Assuming that the triangle is equilateral. [FONT=Times New Roman]...- patehi

High School Design experiment to determine bending strength and torsion of ruler
hello everyone! so as the title suggest, i wonder if anyone would have any idea to design a simple experiment to determine the bending strength and torsion of a plastic ruler. it doesn't need to be extensive, as the value of the strenght itself isn't important. i just want to know e.g how... -

Can the spacing of rods affect the weight needed for applied force?
Hey guys, i need you help to find the weightof a mass required to produce the same applied force to rods. (sorry english is not my first language) i will try to explain this with a diagram. Homework Statement First problem: So let's say i have 10 small rods with a diameter of 2mm and a length...- patehi
