What produce the earth magnetic fields ?

"The composition of Jupiter's atmosphere is similar to that of the Sun - mostly hydrogen and helium. Deep in the atmosphere, the pressure and temperature increase, compressing the hydrogen gas into a liquid. At depths about a third of the way down, the hydrogen becomes metallic and electrically...

Need Chemistry Review Books for College Class?

Hi Gokul, Well, it's his 1st college class. Sometimes it's not good to try to dump the whole truck on a person right away. Maybe he just wants to get his basic atoms & isotopes staight. And besides, I bet even YEW don't know how those sunglasses get dark and then turn light again when you...

Need Chemistry Review Books for College Class?

He did not say that he wants to become a chemist. He wants to take a class. Maybe he could really enjoy it and ask some great questions, once he reads this book. Kind of whet the curiosity. That could be conducive to learning. (esp. at the price of 5 credits:bugeye: ) Gokul, I am really...

Need Chemistry Review Books for College Class?

A Guide to the Elements, by Albert Stwertka--a real page turner! Doesn't mention quarks, enthalpy, Moles, or equations (etc), but really a neat read.

Form Water: Manmade Process & Conditions Needed

So there is not enough heavy water to make this a significant part of all water on earth? ergo it wasn't hydrogen isotopes, scratch that. I am looking for a chemical explanation for water. I am not interested in Cosmology. I hate it. It is too much conjecture and folks get too upset. So I am...

Form Water: Manmade Process & Conditions Needed

Ooooo. Very amazing. I wouldn't have known that! Anyways, how about this H- and OH+ or whatever, the acid/base thing. Does the +/- mean some isotopes with extra -'s? And then could some heavy Hydrogen form some water? If that is a very stupid question, I am just kidding.

Form Water: Manmade Process & Conditions Needed

Next, H2 and O are very explosive, we have established. Oh that'd be a big bang, ahah. However, as plentiful as we are told Hydrogen is in the universe (a whopping 95% or so), it makes up only a tiny 3% of the Earth's crust. Serious drop in consistency of the universe, oh well, no big...

Form Water: Manmade Process & Conditions Needed

Okay, so for the ORIGINAL water, burning hydrocarbons is not an option, since hydrocarbons are a biochemical and building block of life. Life cannot exist w/out water, and this kind of water could not exist w/o life. Maybe there could be a continued formation of H2O through this process...

What produce the earth magnetic fields ?

And is there anything in the works to get more evidence? The only reason I said Voodoo, that different rotating speeds of molten core is the likely suspect is that is the current fashionable explanation. We do know that the sun rotates slowly at the equator. fine. But it also has a lot of wacky...

What produce the earth magnetic fields ?

Maybe it is not known what is in the earth. We should scrap tradition: look, if the sun is so large, and is not an iron core prototype, and magnetic fields are common enough in our solar system, we need to put everything back on the table for some answers. Don't gas giants also have poles?!
