Linear Algebra Prerequisite of the book "Linear Algebra done right"
Dear Fellows, I have recently completed the study of Stewart's calculus. Next, I want to read Linear Algebra. I have bought Sheldon Axler's "Linear Algebra done right" textbook. I want to know if my knowledge of calculus is enough to tackle this book or should I first...- PcumP_Ravenclaw

Undergrad Is the function differentiable at x = p?
Hello mates, is the function ## f(x) = \frac{(2^x - 1)}{x} ## differentiable at x = 0? For it to be differentiable it has to be continuous? From the graph f(0) is undefined although limit exists. I have read that at points like a corner, gap and vertical tangents it is not differentiable. So...- PcumP_Ravenclaw

Undergrad Is a Tangent Line Defined by a Single Point or Its Surroundings?
Halo, my question is what is the shape of a single point? Is it round? When we find the tangent line it is in relation to the surrounding points around the point of interest. For a circle tangent line is line that cuts through a single point only but in a parabola this cannot be true because the...- PcumP_Ravenclaw

Undergrad Is this graph defined at x = 0?
Hello everyone, Is the graph ## (2^x - 1) / x ## defined at x = 0? When I plot this graph there is no spike at 0 because 0/0 is undefined? Is the computer unable to show this? I am finding the limit as x approaches 0. From the graph limit exits but does f(0) exist? Sehr Danke.- PcumP_Ravenclaw

Graduate Understanding fractional and higher dimensions
Halo, I was reading about geometry from Tim Gowers book titled "A very brief introduction to mathematics". I came across fractional dimensions and the 4th dimension. The koch snowflake has dimension 1.2 yet he could comfortably drawn it on a 2d page (or is it complete?). Has not he just...- PcumP_Ravenclaw
