Undergrad Can a nuclear explosion be vectored?

Just to clarify...this not a nuclear cannon. This is a conventional chemical cannon with a nuclear warhead in the "shell". I think the OP was referring to using a nuclear blast to fire the projectile. Lsos has the correct idea and a interesting link referencing "thunderwells".

Undergrad Why is it that only hydrogen isotopes are used for Fusion bombs?

I agree the statement is correct. The possiblity of having a reaction without free neutrons I believe is critical to the success of implementing fusion power stations as a reactor that destroys it containment vessel would be unpractical. I just thought I would mention the reaction as I feel its...

Undergrad Why is it that only hydrogen isotopes are used for Fusion bombs?

Yes, in stars, all elements are used in a variety of fusion reactions to create all elements up to Iron. In supernovas, temperatures are very briefly high enough to create the other heavier elements above iron so, all of the atoms that make up you and the world around you were created in a...

High School Can we see nuclear explosion from orbit?

It all depends what you are looking with... If you are using your eyes, distance is finite... If you are using an gamma ray/xray telescope pointed in the right spot... you could see one from light years away.

Undergrad Can a nuclear explosion be vectored?

Yes, this is how they use a fission primary to create the pressure and temperature necessary for a fission-fusion (thermonuclear) weapon. In practice, the blast is focused ...but only for milliseconds, as the containment structure is eliminated almost instantly. There is no known method of...

Structural Support for Removing Cross Members in Attic Remodel: Expert Advice

Run a single beam from the current connection point at the top of your existing red beam to the bottom of your new wall indicated by the blue line. No other reinforcement is needed. If you build it out like the picture, you are placing your new blue beam in sheer stress, which is a poor design...
