What Are the Best Websites for Texas Instrument Calculators?
I think I bought my HP35 calculator back in 1973. It retailed for just over $400, but I was able to get a student discount, around $385. It was and is a wonderful instrument, but the off-on switch got a bit iffy and now the battery is gone. When I jumper a battery in, it comes back to life so...- Pfft

Reformat Computer Hard Drive Without Restore Disks: How To?
I think the START, DELETE, etc., comment was regarding my comment. START refers to starting the computer from an off condition. As it commences to load you hit the Delete key (at least on my computer). That will put you in the SETUP mode. next hit the ESCAPE key and immediately press and hold...- Pfft

Reformat Computer Hard Drive Without Restore Disks: How To?
Donno what is a restore disk, but I have reformatted the C drive disks on several computers without any problem. Be advised that you will lose everything on the drive when you format. If you do not have a "back up" copy you can still get away with it. I restart the computer, START, DELETE...- Pfft

What can be done with old computer equipment?
If you had a large number of microprocessors in series and a large number of identical problems, you could build a system to step the problems through with a gain in processing time. For example if a single data set can be run through a single processor in ten seconds, break the problem into ten...- Pfft

Foreign Computers: Power Supply and Keyboard Differences?
I have spent most of my life overseas, and have lived in France for the past few years. I can't say that there is any difference in hardware. Yes, there are variations in software to accommodate the differenct keyboads and languages. Yes, they have 240 ovlts over here. By the way, many...- Pfft

Holographic projector? Any idea how it works?
The optical effect described is interesting; however, I believe it is overstated. When I looked at a photograph which was supposed to show the image occurring in the center of a room, the first suspicious thing was that the image occurred within the limits of a screen hanging on the back wall of...- Pfft

High School Creating a Challenging Code with Simple Techniques
One of the main problems with codes is that you cannot memorized a code book. You must keep it on hand. If your name is 007, you cannot afford to be caught with the book because it will give away your profession, and if the book is discovered, there is little problem in decoding your messages...- Pfft

Undergrad Solving Isosceles Triangle ABC: Finding Angle CDE
Given: An isosceles triangle ABC has a point D on AB and a point E on AC. /_BAC=20 degrees /_EBC=50 degrees /_DCB=60 degrees AB=AC Find angle CDE By definition ABC =ACB so ABC and ACB each equal 80 degrees. ACB-CBE=DBE=30 degrees By the same logic ACB-BCD=DCE=20 degrees...- Pfft

High School Creating a Challenging Code with Simple Techniques
If you are still interested in cryptography, there are a number of books on the subject. For starters, try Cryptanalysis by Helen Fouché Gaines, 1939, which describes some of the basics of this field. Next, try Cryptanalysis for Microcomputers by Caxton C. Foster, 1982. I think computers...- Pfft

Voltage Controlled Variable Delay?
I am very very sorry for the error. The delay is not anything like 30 microsecs. I was horrified when I reviewed my message.- Pfft

Voltage Controlled Variable Delay?
My face is red! Ten megahertz for starters. (Sorry, I made a mistake in calculating the delay. Let me get some sleep, and I will run it through again.) Incidentally, the light source is continuous, not pulsed.- Pfft
