Block launching off ramp given initial velocity and Friction

Homework Statement a block is at the base of a ramp of angle 35degrees. The ramp is 5 m long and has a coefficient of static and kinetic friction of .6 and .2 respectively. The block is initially given a velocity of 12 m/s up the ramp, how far from the ramp will the block land? my main...

Object falling down and object falling up

Homework Statement A object A falling down at terminal velocity of 20 m/s, at 1000m above the ground another object B fly at it at an initial velocity of 125 m/s. a) how much time before object A hits object B? Homework Equations X = Xo + Vo(t) + 1/2AT^2 G = 9.8 m/s^2 The...

Find time given initial velocity, distance and acceleration.

ok for B) what is the velocity of the anvil right before it hits the ground? i use V = Vo + AT and got V= 10m/s + 9.8 m/s^2(2.33s) got V =32.9 m/s However the answer is in negative (as in -32.9 m/s) what did i do wrong to miss the negative sign?
