How do I simplify a binomial division?
Homework Statement (v-4)/(5v+1) The Attempt at a Solution I'm an engineering student, and I'm taking Differential Equations, but I can't remember how to do simple things like this. A walk through explanation would be very much appreciated, I don't have a lot of time to spare. The...- pleasehelpme6

Displacement of a steel rod - don't know how to begin
The A-36 steel rod is subjected to the loading shown. If the cross-sectional area of the rod is 50 mm^2, determine the displacement of C. Neglect the size of the couplings at B, C, and D. Please help, I don't have any idea how to begin. I can't seem to sum the forces right.- pleasehelpme6

Dynamics - packages on an incline
the distance the package will slide ON THE BELT, before it comes to rest relative to the belt. this leads me to believe it wants the distance it will slide On the belt. if i took the total distance, it would be greater than 7 m, which is very wrong. please clarify what you mean, as i am no...- pleasehelpme6

Dynamics - packages on an incline
does that mean the package doesn't change velocity at all from touching the belt? that would mean the velocity is .89 m/s, making T3/belt=.5*m(.89)^2 so... Tstop = 0 = T3/belt + Wfriction T3/belt = -Wfriction ((.5)*.89^2)/(µg) = distance = 0.16 which is incorrect.- pleasehelpme6

Dynamics - packages on an incline
could you please elaborate...? with respect to the belt, wouldn't the final energy be zero? or is there some momentum change i missed? (we haven't covered momentum yet so i could easily have missed it)- pleasehelpme6

Dynamics - packages on an incline
Packages are thrown down an incline at A with a velocity of 1 m/s. The packages slide along the surface ABS to a conveyor belt which moves with a velocity of 2 m/s. Knowing that d = 7.5 m and µ = 0.25 between the packages and all surfaces, determine... a) speed of the package at C b) distance...- pleasehelpme6

Electron in magnetic field, quick fix
An electron with speed of 3.7e5 m/s enters a uniform magnetic field of magnitude 0.042 T at an angle 39 degrees to magnetic field lines. The electron will follow a helical path. Determine the radius of the helical path. F = (mv^2)/r F = vq * Bsin(39) set F's equal and solve for r r...- pleasehelpme6

Solving for Vemf and Internal Resistance
When a battery is connected to a 110.-ohm resistor, the current is 3.98 A. When the same battery is connected to a 400.-ohm resistor, the current is 1.11 A. Find the emf supplied by the battery and the internal resistance of the battery. Equations: Vemf = i*R I'm not sure how...- pleasehelpme6

How Does Temperature Change Affect Pressure in a Piston-Cylinder System?
Warm air is contained in a piston-cylinder assembly cools slowly from volume of 0.003 m^3 to 0.002 m^3. During the process a spring exerts a force that varies linearly from an initial value of 900 N to final value of 0. Patm = 100 kPa and the area of the piston face is 0.018 m^2. Or, V1 =...- pleasehelpme6
