Not sure if I should go with a mathematics major

Yeah, I was thinking about applied mathematics as well. What do you guys think about applied math/finance? And thanks for replying!

Not sure if I should go with a mathematics major

Yep, plan B type things are part of why I posted this. I did take a CS class in the spring, and I may take another next spring. I'm just going into my sophomore year, so I've got plenty of time. I'm also considering a double major with physics or possibly with accounting/finance (to be more...

Not sure if I should go with a mathematics major

Hi, everyone! Well, I'm currently a math major at university, planning on going BS -> MS -> PhD, and then being a professor. The problem is, I'm not sure if this is a good career path. Can anyone give me some insight or advice into this? Thanks.

    Help verifying a trig identity?

(sin^3(x)-cos^3(x))/(sinx-cosx) = 1+(sinx*cosx) I'm following a path similar to the post on http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/mathematics/verify-identity-sin-3-x-cos-3-x-sin-x-cos-x-1-sin-x-cos-x-500483.html However, I keep getting 1-(sinx*cosx) when solving for mine as I end up with...

I'm not sure if I should go into physics

Thanks. Unfortunately, the earliest I'm going to be able to get into a physics class is Fall 2013 (Chemistry I & II this year). At least astronomy could give me a little insight into astrophysics.

I'm not sure if I should go into physics

@ eri: Yes, basic Newtonian mechanics is a better way to describe it. By "advanced", I meant advanced for my high school. My bad. And yes, a layman's understanding of quantum mechanics is what I meant by "basic". My old high school's math curriculum and scheduling sort of gave me the shaft on...

I'm not sure if I should go into physics

Hello, everyone. I'm a recently-turned 16-year-old who is about to be a university freshman. The issue is, I'm not sure what area of study I want to go into. I'm pretty good at math and things of the sort (as for current class level, by next summer I should be done with Honors Calculus I), but...
