Solving a Linear Equation in one Variable
Please can someone show me the steps needed to go about rearranging the equation Eph = hc/lambda to make lambda (the wavelength of the light) the subject? I'm totally stuck and I have an exam in the morning. I suspect this is one of the questions that will come up. I know it should be simple but...- raid517

Diffusion across a cell membrane?
Hi, I'm looking for information on blood and neuron cells. Specifically I need to know how the membrane transport mechanism in blood and neuron cells work? I am aware of concepts such as active diffusion, facilitated diffusion, and simple diffusion. The task is to look at the membrane...- raid517

Undergrad Airplane and Conveyor Belt Debate
Well this is true and this is what I thought. But I thought that this was a good place to shoot it in the head for once and for all. Everything I know of says that it's a stupid question and of course the aeroplane wouldn't take off - but when you have 50 different guys challenging your... -

Undergrad Airplane and Conveyor Belt Debate
Airplane Question Someone sent this to me, and apparently it caused quite a ruckus on another forum. I couldn't make any sense out of their responses, so I decided to put it to the great minds on this forum. I didn't find it anywhere, so sorry if this is already on here. The Question: A... -

Graduate Noether's theorem and Time invariance?
Here is a quote I found on this subject that appears to suggest that first (and other laws of thermodynamics) can hold even right up to the very extreme initial conditions only a short period after the big bang. I can grasp this to an extent and do appreciate what it is saying. But this...- raid517

Graduate Noether's theorem and Time invariance?
Well I am only really concerned with the first law in this specific instance. It is rather like taking the first law and 'pretending' that the other laws do not exist. Clearly the second law would tell us that actually running time in reverse would be impossible - and at least in this sense...- raid517

Graduate Noether's theorem and Time invariance?
Hi, I know I'm probably going to get shot down in flames. I'm a total amateur to all of this. But I do try to read things and I do try to understand them - so I hope you guys will at least be patient with me. But in any case I have been reading around about Noether's theorem and about the...- raid517
