Recomendations for the best Statistical Mechanics books

I found that the following reference is a good book to start with for statistical mechanics Statistical Physics (Manchester Physics Series) by F. Mandl, John Wiley and Sons Ltd it has quite many clear examples and it carries you through the different physical concepts step by step.

    Undergrad Negating x^2 + y^2 > 0 for All x,y

I think that was close but not exact, it is: There exist one x > 0 such that x^2+y^2 < or = 0 for one y. The thing is that there is no statement about x < 0. So that there must be no statement for x <0 in the negation. ****************** Maybe an better formulation (and equivalent)...

Undergrad Is BCS Theory Widely Accepted in Physics?

I agree on that point, i.e. it is far from being "widely accepted". I would like to mention that it is always very useful to give references to publications (as you did in your former post). That should be more of an habit in these forum. That helps to clarify what we are talking about.

High School Force vs Weight: Which is Heavier?

First, if you consider the MASS "jar+flies", that is definitely a constant whatever the flies are doing: sitting or flying. Now, if you consider the weight of the "jar+flies", that means you are looking at force that is exerced on the scale. There is there tree contribution to that force...

Undergrad Is BCS Theory Widely Accepted in Physics?

BCS theory states that Superconductivity occurs through the formation of "Cooper" pairs: At low temperature, electrons starts to attract each other via lattice vibration (phonons) and form pairs, i.e. electron orbits around each other. Now, the "speed" of rotation of one pair is characterized by...
