As I was lying awake staring at the ceiling last night, I wondered what the effects of sleep deprivation were. Would you experience decreased coordination, memory loss, ect? A timeline would be useful, i.e. Day 1-lalalalala, like that. I have heard that the CIA once used sleep deprivation as a...
It appears that I have. No more philosophy for me tonight, I'm too sleep-deprived and answering my own questions and overall being rather clueless. I'll try to rest, then come back.
Cool. I knew that I had gotten it from somewhere.
@CJames-These are my definitions.
Anything-Any physical object that can be measured (i.e. weight, mass, height, width, ect.)
Exist-Any physical object that can be observed with the five human senses or aids (i.e. x-ray, ultrasonic...
Okay, even though that kinda sounds like flaming, I'll accept it as an idea. Philosophy is a whole bunch of these "nonsense, meaningless, 'north of north' gibberish questions." Get used to it. There's a reason why philosophy and science don't mix.
I already know what explains life, the...
I think this is the basis for some famous philosophy, but I'm not sure.
I thought of this on one of my sleepless nights, which are pretty often.
Anyway... Does anything really exist? Or is it all just electric impulses from our nerves that our brain deciphers into sound, taste, hearing...
1. Brain waves are electrochemical impulses.
2. These "brain waves" are carried on neurons, not electrons.
To answer your first question, thoughts are carried through different paths throughout neurons. The electric impulses may use the same neuron every now and then, but never the same...
Let me start off by saying that I very well know that PM is impossible. Thermodynamics aren't just good ideas-they're the law. :)
I have heard that Brownian Motion will go on infinitely, but you can't harness it and it is useless perpetual motion. Is this true?
You mean infinite? No, the universe is actually donut-shaped (seriously) and very much finite, but is expanding at such a fast pace that it can be considered infinite. But not really.

I feel that this explains most NDE's. The visual, tactile, and auditory stimuli are sometimes imperceptible from reality. I know, I've experienced this multiple times.
