You sure can which is why we have "neon" lights but the voltage must be large enough so that this energy is more than that required to ionize the atom. Different atoms have different ionization energies.
^ very well said.
As everyone has already stated, yes you need math and as long as you do pretty well on your courses and use it often it will be come second nature. It doesn't help that many physics courses don't use calculus anymore. Almost all courses employ a reduction to algebra...
Sergei Koroliev - fresh from the gulag to using old V2 Rocket parts to give birth to some of the greatest and most comlicated multi engine rockets the world had ever seen.
Right to the point huh? What happened to the whole ''study and work on something you love and the money will come" - Do whatever you want to do, engineers in general already make better money than the average job. Stop concentrating so much on being rich and choose something that you WANT to...
You most definitely can. Like everyone says, you need practice and more importantly (in my opinion) a good foundation. All math builds on previous math. You can't expect to understand Calculus without being very good at algebra. etc
You guys are awesome, I too started school again to go into engineering at age 27. What you have to do is get a good foundation and if youre anything like me then classes is where you get that.
Attend community college and take:
Calculus 1
Chemistry
Physics for Eng: Mechanics (make sure...
Keep thinking this way and you will end up quitting and working at a grocery store when you could have contributed to Math. Stop it, get to it. One other thing to keep in mind is that as you study mathematics you will get better at pattern recognition at least slightly thereby increasing your...
No joke, this sounds SO MUCH like me that I checked the name of the poster to see if it had been me a few years back. (I'm 28 now). You and I are so much alike. I also graduated in Econ and although I am working in a finance field I always felt that engineering would contribute to society while...
It's like anything, Jews may have a certain way of thinking and they instill this in their kids by their involvement in family or religion..and it just happens that those skills makes them obtain high positions? Just like most physical sports are dominated by african americans in the U.S and...
Just know that you have tons of time, sure it sucks to have to redo classes and get that GPA up again..but it will be worth it. I was given the choice to take courses to bring GPA up and instead of spending another year doing that I changed major to graduate on time. I somewhat regret it now...
The only other school that has Aero is in Champaign a few hours away. I'd have to quit my job to pursue that. I'm looking at UIC's Mechanical Eng program which costs half as much per semester. I still haven't dismissed it yet, still looking at my possibilites.
=/ Its $15,500 per semester. wow...
Illinois Institute of Technology..now I'm thinking of just changing to Mechanical and attending UIC instead. I didnt know it was so expensive.
