Double Integral with Limits: Solving for (x+2y)^-(1/2)
ARh okay. It makes so much more sense now :) And thanks for the fast replies. Solved the assignment now. At least it corresponds to the answer I get in Mathematica, so I'll stick with this answer :) Thanks for the replies!- santais

Double Integral with Limits: Solving for (x+2y)^-(1/2)
So the limits would be somehow: 1 <= x <= 5 and (x-1)/2 <= y <= Sqrt[x-1]- santais

Double Integral with Limits: Solving for (x+2y)^-(1/2)
Homework Statement Calculate the integral: ∫ ∫_R (x+2y)^{-(1/2)} dxdy Where R is defined as points (x,y) which satisfy: x-2y ≤ 1 and x ≥ y2 + 1 Homework Equations So basically I'm completely stuck on this exerzice. As far as I can see, you could make the x limit go from...- santais

Calculating the Line Integral for the Intersection of Two Surfaces
Thanks for the quick reply :) It sure did lighten it up a lot. I see that i have misunderstood what geometric figure the functions describe. What I meant by a circle in the x-z plane was, that the projection of the function to the x-z plane, would give show a circle. Anyway so now it's just...- santais

Calculating the Line Integral for the Intersection of Two Surfaces
Homework Statement Observe the curve C, which is given as the intersection between the surfaces: x2+z2=1 and y = x2 Calculate \int_c{\sqrt{1+4x^2 z^2}} Homework Equations So basically I'm completely lost on this assignment. So far I can see, that x^2+z^2=1 describes a...- santais

Solution 1. order differential equation
Homework Statement So I've been given an assignment to find all solutions to the differential equation as mentioned below. From what can be seen, it's a 1. order differerential equation. The assignment is as stated: y'(t)+p*y(t)=y(t)^2 Homework Equations So I tried to...- santais

Linearization Error: Find Approximate Error of f(x) |x| < 1
Thanks for the answer. And sorry for the late reply. I'm still quite unclear of what you mean, to be exact. In words, the assigment says that I have to estimate the error for |x| < 1. So I guess that has to be the maximum error, in form of a function. But then you say, then when I have a...- santais

Linearization Error: Find Approximate Error of f(x) |x| < 1
Homework Statement I've been given the assignment to make a linearization of the function f(x) = Sin(x) e^(x) by using Taylors polynominal of 3. degree. Next is to find the approximately error of f(x) when |x| < 1 (expressed as a function of x). Homework Equations So finding the...- santais

Mathematica Creating your own function Determinant in Mathematica
Wow that helped a lot :D Tried to break it up, as you said. Also did look into recursive functions more specifically, which gave me a much better idea on, how it actually worked. So got it working now. Thanks a lot for the help :)- santais

Mathematica Creating your own function Determinant in Mathematica
Hi guys. So I got this assignment, where I have to create my own function, which can calculate the determinant of any n x n matrix. The general formula we've been given is (recursive formula): det(A) = Sum[n,i=1] (-1)^{1+i} * a_{1 i} * det(A_{1 i}) where n is the length of the matrix...- santais

Inertia of a flywheel, with a mass attached in a cord.
Homework Statement Hi :) So we've been given an exercize, where we have to calculate the inertia of a rotating flywheel in three different methods. The setup can been seen below. First by measuring and calculating the diameter, mass, radius, volume etc. Worked out just fine. The...- santais

RLC Circuit - 2. Order differential equation solution
Thanks :D that did it make it a lot clearer. Tried to solve it myself, as you said, with replacing the parameters in the beta notation, where I ended up with the same result. Now it's acutally just to put the equations in the general answer, of a 2nd order differential equation and it should...- santais

RLC Circuit - 2. Order differential equation solution
Great thanks for the answer. Anyway the resonance, w0, how to get to that answer ? {ω_{0} = \sqrt{\frac{1}{LC}-\frac{R^{2}}{4L^{2}}}} specifically. I get the solution for the differential equation, but the equation for the resonance simply doesn't make sense.- santais

Differential Equation of a moving car with drag
Ah okay it makes sense now :) I actually spoke to my teacher today and he said that's it way easier to do it by using the Bernoulli ODE, however since we havn't learned to use it yet, he'd rather have we solve it as a separately equation. But been working on it all day and finally got a...- santais
