Balancing Full Time Work and Full Time School: Is it Possible?
Right now I work as a server full time. I put in about 40 hours a week on the clock, but I'm usually there at least 43/45 hours a week, depending. A week when I don't go into overtime hasn't happened in a while now. I want to start school full time in the Spring semester (Undergrad, physics...- SimplySolitary_

What should I feed my son for lunch?
Tuna is good. Carrots, broccoli with cheese, and spinach are all good, if you can get him to eat them. Cooked carrots (So they're soft) in a cheese sauce with chicken fingers (Home made, so they're not icky and gross) is a great option. :)- SimplySolitary_

High School Info 'bout black holes, and is there one in the center of the galaxy?
I highly recommend you high-tail it over to Wikipedia and read up. It has some interesting things, if you don't know much about BHs, and it's always a good read. 95% of stuff is cited, so it's completely true. While I haven't been there, Einstein Online sounds like a great website, too. Just...- SimplySolitary_

PF Member Photo Thread Archive
Hi Guys! I'm sure you can find my picture somewhere in this mess, but I just decided to come back and post more as my chances of going to college are actually becoming reality. So... here's a recent one of me. Sorry it sucks, I took it with my phone the other night before leaving. I wear...- SimplySolitary_

Is This College Schedule Too Demanding?
I'd like to drop my 2 cents in this, even though it's clearly covered. At the end of the day, a reasonable workload varies between person to person. If you thrive on learning, are going to enjoy the classes you're taking, and willing to put in a lot of after hours with homework... then yeah...- SimplySolitary_

Programs Is taking to many classes bad for app. to PHd?
I'm going to agree that this advice isn't only wrong, it's illogical. As long as you have the time to do everything needed, there's no reason NOT to take as many courses as you can handle. ...Duh. :)-Simply- SimplySolitary_

Top 7 vs 100: Who Gets into Top 10?
I would like to point out, having skimmed all responses, that A is a total idiot and clearly had a ton of potential, but squandered a huge amount of it and did nothing with his time. Thus, he isn't likely to make it to the school he wants, and will be sad. Which may cause worse grades. Sad...- SimplySolitary_

Schools Is University of Maryland a Good School for Physics/Astrophysics
SpiffyKavu, Wow! Awesome... I honestly didn't expect to get to talk to someone who is actually at UMDCP (Sorry, meant to specify that I was talking about College Park specifically in the post. I know there are a few branches). I guess my main question here is - will I be happy there - but...- SimplySolitary_

Schools Is University of Maryland a Good School for Physics/Astrophysics
I'm going to be going to Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland for two years, then I'm going to transfer, probably to UMD (University of Maryland) or UMBC (University of Maryland Baltimore County). What I want to know is, is UMD a good school for a physics degree? Can I get a good...- SimplySolitary_

Programs Computer Science Hopeful Major Help
Hi guys. I have a couple questions. My boyfriend wants to major in computer science. He went to DeVry University, but managed to get out before he completed a semester (I still can't believe he willingly went there). His HS transcripts are really bad (3.0 GPA), but he went to a VoTech for...- SimplySolitary_

Schools College's Near DC/Virgina Area ?
Hey everyone. :) I was just wondering if anyone knew off hand any good colleges around the DC/Virgina area (Less than two hours away from Crystal City...? I'd rather have it closer, but still.) that offer physics (Theoretical, not applied...)? I'm going to be an undergrad, but I want to transfer...- SimplySolitary_

Why do some people struggle with public speaking?
You can't expect everyone to be wonderful on the radio... some people just aren't cut out for it? It bugs me, too, though... I just figure that I wouldn't be any better. :p- SimplySolitary_
