Languages for Engineering - unsure what to study
Thanks for all the replies, I'm definitely veering towards improving my French at this point as I already have a firm basis for it. I have until the 21st of June to decide though.- sketch

Languages for Engineering - unsure what to study
I am being offered subsidised language courses with my BEng Mechanical Engineering including a free first year, and need to decide soon what language I want to study. I can choose from French, Spanish, German, Arabic and Mandarin Chinese. I am female and live in the UK, though I am very...- sketch

YOU: Fix the US Energy Crisis
Unless someone cracks cold fusion then there is a finite amount of energy and sorry but people will have to take a blow when it comes to the amount of power they use. The fact that many live in apartment blocks in the US almost makes it easier in some ways than in other places and tbf we will...- sketch

Benefits of a sandwich year BEng (hopefully MEng)
I have been studying with the Open University towards a BEng and am hoping to transfer to a 'bricks and mortar' university for September following some very god marks - if I continue to do as well as I have been I would hopefully be able to continue on and turn my degree into an MEng. I am...- sketch

Steering Wheel Angle & Radius of Curvature
It's the extra weight and stresses caused by the long pole with a sail attached that I was concerned about but it looks like you've thought that through. I guess you could use a smaller sail if it's very windy. I'd probably want to make the way the tiller affects the angle of the steering...- sketch

Steering Wheel Angle & Radius of Curvature
I take it you have already planned around the much altered centre of gravity? I wouldn't want too small a radius of steering on a land sailer...- sketch

Syphon problem with above ground water tank
Or lotech solution - some sort of small 'header' tank above the level of the main feeder tank, thus negating the syphon effect completely...or set it up to be gravity fed with a solenoid operated tap...- sketch

German or French for Engineering?
My understanding is that technical German can be a whole different kettle of fish to 'standard' German. If anyone is interested in learning more than one European language, I would recommend some study of Latin as well, which of course has many benefits for scientific reading as well. I...- sketch

YOU: Fix the US Energy Crisis
Groups of houses or apartments to share high power appliances such as vacuum cleaners, tumble driers, fridges and freezers etc. More internal electrics to run on 12v, with the power supplied via small windmills and solar arrays. Larger windmills to store higher voltage using capacitors or...- sketch
