Inflection Points and Local Extrema of a Cubic Function

So then is it just still concave down?

Inflection Points and Local Extrema of a Cubic Function

no, the -6x-6 was the second derivative.

Inflection Points and Local Extrema of a Cubic Function

    x>-1 = - x<-1 = + at f"(x)= 6x-6 So I'm confused :/

Inflection Points and Local Extrema of a Cubic Function

I'm not sure what to say, it's not clear like what we've done in my class before..I've only seen clear ones such as x^2/3 functions where there is a clear dip.

Inflection Points and Local Extrema of a Cubic Function

Also how do I do this problem... rotate region defined by y=(1/4)x^2 and y=2x+1 at x-axis and find volume... do I start off by finding intercepts? x=-.4721 x=8.4721 then do the integral for volume pi*integral of ((2x+1)^2-((1/4)x^2)^2) from -.4721 to 8.4721?

Calculate Energy of System: Electron Gun, KE, Force, Acceleration, Time

Homework Statement In an electron microscope, there is an electron gun that contains two charged metallic plates 3.05 cm apart. An electric force accelerates each electron in the beam from rest to 9.70% of the speed of light over this distance. (Ignore the effects of relativity in your...

What is the coefficient of static friction between the bag and the carousel?

Got it, thanks and I did have an error in my work. I wrote it down to make sure instead of doing it all on the calculator and forgot to change a degree.

What is the coefficient of static friction between the bag and the carousel?

    [F – mg sin 18]cos 18 = (mv^2)/r = 30x[(2xpix7.94)/38]^2/7.94

What is the coefficient of static friction between the bag and the carousel?

Homework Statement (a) A luggage carousel at an airport has the form of a section of a large cone, steadily rotating about its vertical axis. Its metallic surface slopes downward toward the outside, making an angle of 18.0° with the horizontal. A piece of luggage having mass 30.0 kg is placed...
